Counter Balancer

I'm looking for an aftermarket part for the end of the counter balancer on the KLR, the slotted piece that breaks if not properly kept tight. Need a spare. I know someone has made one and have seen it but can't find it again.
Thanks.

Arlen,
try doing a search on the message board on this site http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DSN_klr650/, if it's the same thing they refer to it as a "Doohickey". I have read somewhere that someone is making a modified one.
Good luck

"doohickey" = idler shaft lever
They're about $7 from your dealer.
Try sagebrushmachine.com for aftermarket.
Parts diagrams are available online at kawasaki.com
Good luck, cookie

I *strongly* recommend installing Jake's stronger version of the idler shaft lever. Mine shattered after 25k miles of regular (3k mile) oil changes and on-time adjustments. There is a few gouges in the left engine case now, so who knows what damage the pieces could have done? A real pain in the arse.
