Centerstand for KLR

I was wondering if anybody knew a company that made centerstands for the KLR. I realize it makes repairing flat tires, which I get all to often, a lot easier.

Check out www.dual-star.com. They sell a centerstand. Works pretty good too. I have one myself.

There is a German-made stand that I bought for my KLR from "Adventure Motorcycle Gear" (in the U.S.) for $140. The manufacturer (SW-Moto) lists it for 99 Euros, so it may be obtainable more cheaply if you speak Deutsch. It's well made, but unfortunately doesn't quite lift the bike high enough - a 1/2 inch piece of wood under the stand fixes that. Note that both the dual-star and my stand are impossible to use if the bike is loaded - neither of them has an arm for extra leverage.

If you weld on a piece of metal it will fix the "lift not loaded" problem...

Before I made any trips on my 99 KLR, I, too, was looking for and thinking about a centerstand. Having made two sizeable trips now, I wouldn't have one. I carry a piece of hardwood(limb from tree)long enough to lift rear when I put it under swingarm. Slightly forked one end, makes a good stout club if needed too---Porter
