Bike shops

I will be headed to Baja and Central America some time in early 2004. I will be in the San Diego area Mid or end of Feb and I will be looking for one last major tune up before I head south of the border. Can anyone recomend a bike shop in that area that can do good work on KLR's and have most the parts in stock. Also, I will need some contacts in the USA should I need to order parts for the KLR once in Central America. Can anyone recomend parts suppliers or bike shops that ship quickly and efficently to remote areas. Any other suggetions on parts or dealers in Central America would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try kawasaki's dealer locator at www.kawasaki.com. Won't tell you if the dealers any good, but it's a start.

Try www.happy-trails.com ... Its a recommended supplier.

They have sent my items in four days. From US to Turkey.

For supply of items not in the web page, contact Tim.

Check out this thread for parts-shipping info. Both Arrowhead & Dual Star are very reliable & very helpful for delivering to Latin America. While Happy Trails make good products, they aren't so helpful at shipping them; I needed a new rack while in Peru and Tim Bernard would not write a low price on the invoice. I went with someone else who would, which was fortunate as the customs tax was 100%...

Have fun,
James

I wanted to buy a battery from Arrowhead and to avoid ~%40 percent tax, i requested the same thing ; to write a low price on the invoice.

They didnt even reply to my request. So my experience with them is unfortunately was not so positive.

Sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive experience with Arrowhead. I've ordered from Fred about 10 times, most of them involving mucking about with international delivery, and he's always come through. Oddly enough, he also sells Happy Trails products, cheaper than Happy Trails themselves.
