Chicago/Milwaukee area Adventure riders

Hello everyone. Looking to gather info on great off surface routes in the Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin area, for a Touring Adventure ride, I am on a new 2013 Triumph Tiger 800.I didnt get the XC as I am mainly a commuter in the city downtown, and ride mainly on surface due to limited time to access nice roads from Chicago, mainly I head to Wisconsin in past, but that was also when I am on a sport bike or cruiser. I am looking for not too aggressive trails, like fire roads and utility roads, small creeks are fine. No tree or rock jumping please.

Does anyone have the route/map for the Trans Wisconsin Trail? I would prefer to camp, and just go with 2-3 other riders, or solo, not a group. The outfit in Wisconsin wants $800 per rider, 10 riders minimum sharing a room as well with 1 person, I am sure its all worth it, but prefer to camp be outdoors, fish and hike too...

Its been a harsh winter this year, this is the longest period I have not rode a bike, as normally I ride in cold above 45...so much for that!

Yikes! I need to be online more often so I see stuff like this.

Wait, no I don't.

Anyway, not sure where you got the $800 for the TWAT from, but here is a link with the various GPS files for download. You will need an OHV sticker, well you won't need it but you are supposed to have one. Camping and fuel are marked on the GPS files, but it's pretty easy to find if you look around.

If you can spare the change, send Lone Wolf a donation (link at the very bottom of his homepage). There was a fair amount of work that went into that route.

When were you looking to go?

Don't forget about the Trans Minnesota Adventure trail. It is especially nice once you get farther north ( Duluth and above).

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
