Cool XL 600 LMF overland trip

Hello there, I am one of a 4 strong team on a 52 week countdown to launch, India is the destination, We are all using the same bikes (600lmf) and although We have a top flight mechanic/technition in the team I personally feel that imput from people that have done serious mileage on similar machines invaluble and can only bolster the pre planned prevenative approach needed.
We are all doing the obvious things such as starting the trip with brand new wheel bearings, brake pads/shoes, tyres,chain/sprockets etc etc.... Any imput whatsoever will greatly be appreciated. We have a big hit list of Do's and Dont's but applying the "never know" factor could just save the day if pre thought of so anyone out there with info get intouch....!!!!!

Regards Mez/ Graham

Are LMF's the ones with the tubeless rims, using a flange in the centre of the rim that the spokes connect to via 90 degree bend in the spokes? If so, I'm sure I've heard of problems with these wheels?

Check the regulator/rectifier, possible weak spot on some older Honda's?

Hi there Steve, yes those are the ones. Been told to look out for corrossion on the inside of the rim but dont know about any weakness's of these wheels if any...?? they look very robust wheels I have to say....!! We have a couple of spare rec/reg's to take and they have a secure ignition system working straight off the mag so should be safe there.. Will look further into the wheel thing though, cheers Steve.
