Need instructions to set timing on 2000 XR650L

Need help getting instructions to set the timing for a 2000 XR650L. Bought a manual, but it will not tell us how to complete. Honda dealership wants mega bucks to tell. Please help.

same engine as a Dominator so if you can get a manual, that'll see you right.

timing of what? ignition? camshaft?
there's only one position for the ignition rotor, but you need to put the various gears etc on in the right order for the cam chain to run right. the camshaft has markings which need to be level with the head to rocker cover interface when at top dead centre. (cam lobes pointing downa nd away from the rockers to avoid depressing the valves!
did you enjoy getting the cam chain tensioner spring back in - great fun without the right tool!
