Africa Twin: Re-jetting or not?
Im searching for jetting/set up advice for my Africa twin.
Should I need to adjust the jetting on my Africa Twin now Ive fitted an Arrow 'dakar' silencer and K&N air filter? My priority is fuel economy and smooth running in preference to increased power etc. (The pipe is light and small, and the K&N makes filter maintainance a breeze) The bike feels a bit rich and is suffering from poor starting. Could just be the winter blues here in the UK. Roll on Summer! This is a common set up so I expect someone will have had their bike analysed properly. Also: any recommended shock servicing/repair places in the UK/South of England> Grateful for any help. Anyone? ------------------ |

Richard,
There's no need to re-jet. I had a problem with my old AT running rich which turned out to be one of the choke bodies seizing. This was due to the bike being left idle for a long period and is apparently quiet common with modern fuel on this model. A good dose of WD40 is the cure. See your other post on AT fuel economy. Bob. I,ve not long since finished in the bike game (because it was killing my love of bikes)and i think you will find that the running rich problem was there before you changed the pipe and filter. sticky choke is a common problem for AT's so strip it and give it a clean (it's the choke plunger)and you should find its gone
hope this helps Ged [This message has been edited by judgeged (edited 02 January 2004).]
