Portugal & Spain

hola,

currently in Portugal, near Lisbon. Working my way down south then around Spain sticking mostly to the coast.

If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations of places to visit it would be appreciated?

Thanks, Michael.

michael,
there is not much to see along the coast, imo. it is growing into an endless suburb. point your frontwheel inside the country. amongst others granada is a must-see.
stop working...follow your frontwheel...

regards....

Tarifa is nice (the most southerly town in Spain), nice food there, especially "Vaca Loca" or "la pescadaria" for either meat or fish.

Gibraltar if you fancy that sort of thing too, about 1/2 hour up the road (north east) from Tarifa.

Yes, not too impressed with the Alg.arve - too touristy, but then i guess i should of expected that.

Was not sure about going to Tarifa as the coast road from there up toward Malaga is horible but seeing as you recommend it i'll def go, and also pop in to Cadiz.

My top places in Portugal so far are:

Obidos (walk along castle walls)

the fort at Peniche was interesting, mainly the mu0seam which has top floor laid out as prison it used to be up until mid 70's.

Also i really liked the castle at Almoural (spelling), which is south of Tomar. The castle itself is a ruin on an island in a beautiful river, so you pay €1.50 for a short return boat trip - lovely when the sun is shinning.

Thanks for input. I wont be able to do 2 or 3 this trip but will bear them in mind for the future.

The pyreness - will do.

Went to Toledo last year - great place to visit.

Just left Sevilla - was fiesta time, great city, great place, great people.

Currently in Tarifa, which has got to be the windest place i've ever been - all the bikers ride along at a 30degree tilt into the wind just to maintain a straight line!
