Off roading in Wales

Hi, myself and a couple of friends are spending the weekend riding southern Wales in a couple of minths. Doaes anyone know of any good places where we can spend some quality time off roading??

As much time as possible is preferable. After riding 4 hours to get there a little dust and mud would be welcome.

cheers

The trouble with Wales is that so many of the RoW (rights of Way) have been downgraded, you can no longer just grab an OS map and head off, it pays to check with the local council first.
Saying that... Strata florida is a good long route with lots of river crossings.
The gap road, is a fairly short (about 8 miles ish) track but only open in march (1-31st) and september to the middle of october.
Other than that, check with the councils and explre any of the byways, they're all good, especially mid wales/Brecon area, nice and "remote" with lovely panoramic views.

As diesel jim said, there's a few roman roads around the brecon/llandovery area that are BOAT's,a couple of which are date-restricted.Strata Florida and the forestry tracks nearby are another source of ammusement, especially with a GPS(loads of tracks that are not on the map!).If you venture further north around Machynlleth, there's a few quite long BOAT's which are worth exploring. When exactly are you planning on coming here?I'm on a work contract at the moment away from home, but if you can PM me the planned dates and i'm back home, maybe we can meet up and i'll take you on a tour of other bike-legal trails i know.
Jon.
