Thanks Peter,
Looks like we can get across to Ancona in Italy but from where? Kerkira? If you can recommend a ferry operator or you found a good crossing, approx. prices etc.
Cheers

There are numerous possibilities. For some of them see http://www.viamare.com. There are a few other ferry web sites. Try Google to find them.

Bear in mind when comparing prices that motorways in Italy are expensive for bikes, so it may be worthwhile to book a cabin and take a longer boat trip (i.e. further north).

I haven't had any particularly good or bad experiences, so can't really recommend a company. For me it's timetables and prices that determine the choice.

I remember a negative post about a Greek company somewhere, so search this forum and Trip Transport.

Good luck and have fun.

Hello Nick1150gs,
I took the ferry from Patra to Ancona 2 times. I used the SUPERFAST lines. Check also the Minoan lines. I think these are the major companies crossing from Greece to Italy. You can take the ferry also from Igumenitsa.

No problems at all.
You just go to Patra or Igoumenitsa and from there everyday leave several ferry boats for different destinations in Italy.
You can have some problem only in the very high season, but usually with only a bike you can find a place.

Hi there,

We got a ferry from Partas to Venice at the end of november last year. We use Minoan lines, they have aluxurious boat that goes a lot faster then the rest. Only superfast ferries has also fast boats.

We paid E 180,- for 2 bikes and 2 persons on the deck. This is low season. It took us 2 nights and 1 day: leaving at 24.00 hours and getting to Venice at 8.00 hours two days later.

Just go to one of the ferry agencies, they can help you. We didn't make any reservations.

Cheers,
Corné
