Shipping bikes south from Costa Rica. Anybody???
Hi everybody!
We are travelling from USA south to Argentina and right now are stuck in Costa Rica. I am from Czech and dont need visa to Panama, But Peter is from Slovakia and needs them.We just found out, that he is not gonna get them, because he doesnt have a letter of invitation. Did anybody shipped their bike to Ecuador from Costa Rica? Or does anybody have an advice on what might help to get the panamian visa? Thanks |

Hi Verka
I spoke to the Panama consulate in London.A man by the name of Pedro just said that proof of accomodation in Panama, such as a Hotel booking and proof of finances, proof of onward travel out of Panama, you know the usual things should be enough. He was quite helpful and said i could get back to him if you are still having trouble. His number is +442074092255.Let me know if you want me to call him for you to see if he can help.If you do give me all your details,Peters full name etc. and a name of a contact at the Panama consulate in Costa Rica. There is a car carrying ferry that runs from Costa Rica (Pacific Coast) to Esmereldas, Ecuador. Met Austrian 4-wheeler in Bolivia that had used it, reckoned $400. But I have no useful contact details. Check with San Jose based shipping agencies, I guess.
Cheers, suerte, Dan Walsh.

Thanks both of you for replies.
We are still in San Jose (over 4 weeks now). We got an invitation letter from one guy, who has a family in Panama. WE are still waiting for the visa, but at least it looks like Peter is going to get it. Again, thanks. |
