Mexico Paperwork problem
I entered Mexico in aout 2001. Did proper entrance/exit. Tried entering again in 2003 but denied entrance (with passport) as thier records showed I never left with bike in 2001. Next day I tried sucessfully to enter with birth certificate(not passport) Now I need to enter again but will likely need passport as I will return from Guatamala and papers from Guatamala will show passport number that will raise red flag in MExico. Need advice on how to "clear my name" in Mexico. Consulate not helpful. Bike brought in 2001 since has been sold and can't find it.

My suggestion would be to contact your DMV and ask them to provide paperwork showing that the bike is no longer registered in your name. It'll likely have to be notarized which will be difficult if you're not in the US. You might get a family member to pick it up and then mail it to you. It's a tough position and happened to a friend last year. Eventually, after having his DMV fax paperwork to him which he had notarized on the US side, he was able to get in even though it really wasn't the correct procedure.
