----------" Why be chained to a $1000 brake module when a $3 cable did just as well for decades? The $1000 part may look good at dividend time at the polished shoe party...but it does me no good in mud up to my knees with the light failing in the real world."----------------
I couldn't agree more !!!!!!!!!!!

ABS - worth the cost?
I can't comment on the effectiveness of ABS, having never ridden a bike with it active (on the old G/S we're just happy to have brakes at all!). However, many questions arise about the higher initial cost - often $1000-$1500 depending on model. I can say that in most cases this will be carried forward into the resale value of the bike. Not for full value, but used ABS bikes typically fetch about $500-$1000 more then non-ABS units. I don't think this should be as much a factor as its real-world usefullness, but it does factor on the pure cost assessment of it's value.
