F650gs twin oil leak

My F650GS Twin has very slight leak (a seep really) on the left (nearside) of the engine. The source is not visible without removing at least some of the plastics but it comes from very near the top of the engine, possibly towards the front.

It's so slight the oil level hasn't dropped in over 3000 miles. The oil just makes that side of the cyclinder block greasy.

Any ideas? Is it a 'known' issue?

I had mine leak from a side... More like a sweat. Happened after a service where valves were checked. Took it back and dealer said: not consuming oil, not an issue we'll fix it next service. Next service I was out of warranty and I did it myself, just changed the gasket and applied some black gasket seal. I wouldn't sweat it if it's not consuming oil.

Almost guaranteed to be the rocker cover gasket

To replace it you have to remove the fairing and airbox.

Used to be quite a common problem but less common now if fitted correctly. Best advice is to get a Gasket kit from a dealer or if you get it replaced at a dealer you will get you will get a 2 year warranty on the part which is a bonus.

If it's not a major problem It's up to you when you get it changed but remember oil leaks only get worse with time.
