fuse in engine?

Changing the fuse for the power socket on my F650 Dakar, which is just behind the main fuse box - I dropped it and it fell somewhere into the engine - and now I can't see or retrieve it. Tried shaking the bike - can't even hear it rattling about. Is there any chance it can get near any moving parts to cause any damage? Has anyone else experienced ths before?

thanks

I doubt it'll hurt anything. It's too small to do any real damage in any case.

Motor on!

I'm not familiar with this engine but am unable to understand how the fuse "entered" the engine unless a main cover had been removed?

If it's definitely in the engine, you may get away with it but if it gets caught between gears, the plastic casing will break in to many pieces...... It could also get caught in the gear selector mechanism.

I dropped a shim down the camchain tunnel of my GSX-R1100 a few years ago. Drained the oil & removed the sump & strainer without finding it. I ran the bike for 4,000 miles until the next oil change, expecting to find it in the oil but could not. I gave up finding it without an engine strip only to find it stuck to the magnetic drain plug with just a few scratches on it.

I should explain - it is not "inside" the engine in the sense that no covers were removed at the time - it is perhaps better to say that it fell onto the engine, somewhere round the crank case area - but it didn't fall all the way through to the ground as I might have expected.I thought I would be able to see most of the nooks and crannies where it might have come to rest. My main concern was that it could rattle around, perhaps rubbing against some rubber parts causing wear, or if there was any way it could acutally get into any of the main moving parts inside the casing.

Thinking about it now it will probably vibrate its way out - with the help of the wind on my next run.
