F650GS Dakar ABS help ???

Have been looking to buy an F650 GS Dakar. I have viewed one with low miles on an 05 plate. Looks nice but the seller said it has rear wheel only ABS. Is this common as it is something I have never heard of. The seller claims it is not switchable ? How would this affect me riding off road. Really keen on the bike but this ABS query is putting me off buying it ! Why only ABS on rear ? Is this a bit dodgy ?

Thanks,

Sean

Hi
In this case the rear cog only works as the sensor for the speedometer.
The seller only is lying, for be an ABS version has to be a front disc cog, sensor, button and a massive box with wires and hoses between the engine and the rear shock….

Thanks Javier,

Thought this was strange.

Is there any chance it might be a retro fitted rear brake ABS or is it defintely non ABS

Im not familiar with the F650, but never heard of a bike (or any other vehicle for that matter!) that would have ABS for some of its wheels, and not for others. It would not make much sense. Especially on an offroad-bike, you would first want to disable it from the rear, if doing some tougher tracks, or sand or mud.

Sounds like the seller´s telling tales. I would simply move on to the next available option.

On the ABS model it uses the speedo pick up on the rear wheel for the rear ABS and a pick up on the front for ABS only. You can't retro fit the ABS kit to a non ABS bike as the wiring loom on the ABS model is different, well you could if you are a good auto elec. if you are I have a complete ABS set up in the roof of the garage as I removed it from the wifes GS
