Additives, pre-unleaded

I'm using Red-Ex, no sign of valve seat wear as yet, i.e. valve clearances not closing up. Has anyone had experience of that stuff you put in your tank and it lasts for - I think - tens of thousands of miles. I think it may be Bardhal, Bardahl, something like that, not sure, though. Or can anybody suggest something else? I like the idea of something long-lasting so that I don't have to forever dosing every single tankfull. My bike is an '82 airhead.
Thanks,
J

I run an 82 RT and have never bothered with the additives, I've done 40,000 miles on it myself all on unleaded, every 5,000 miles or so the right hand exhaust closes up. I can tell this because it suddenly wont idle. The other 3 are always fine. When I have time I will have them done. Why not do what I did with my 81 G/S with 151,00 miles on it - and have them done when there's no valve seat left!
My point is they wear out anyway why waste time and money only for them to need re - doing every 80,000 miles anyway
