2007 BMW R 1200 GSA Uruguay 6900 Euro

Posted June 06 2020
2007 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure about 95 000 KM parked in Uruguay 6900 Euro
(of course any reasonable offers will be considered) If need be a Reasonable rental price for the Garage can be negotiated with the building management commencing when you buy the bike, Great Option if you want to plan ahead for when the COVIT is over, buy now use when you're ready, return when you want and continue to explore the continent over a longer period of time.(I have done so over 5 years every winter for 3 to 5 month of riding and exploring)

I am selling Fat Berta due to health reasons

Bike is registered in Montreal Canada and can be registered in your name here.

I had the Bike since new and have always maintained the Bike
The bike is in South America since 2013. I am renting a Garage there and leave Berta in Uruguay as you can have a Bike visa for a year and then you need to leave for 48 hours before re-entering and ask for another year on the visa.

Argentina is a 3 hour ride by ferry and Brazil about 4 hour drive on the road.

The bike is used with some scratches and a few dents on the suitcases but mechanically in top shape and ready to hop on and go adventuring.

I did lots of work during my travels it has a new Clutch (seal was leaking oil on the clutch so I just changed the seal and just put a new clutch in) , rebuild ABS comptroller (Done in Germany)
New Rear swing-arm with a Cardan /i.e Driveshaft (actually it was the universal joint which took a hit but you can't just change the joint so I only needed the Cardan (Driveshaft) but I found the whole Drivetrain thats the rear Swing-arm, Differential Brake disk and Shaft on eBay. I just added 2 new ball bearings where needed. New Front forks (There I only needed the bushings which blew due to over compression and the bearing on the front swing arm. I bought the complete front forks at slightly more than just changing the parts+ Labour) and got a new front Swing arm (BMW certified with the vehicles VIN).There too I just added new ball bearings where needed. Rebuild Ohlins Rear-shock with Gas comptroller (Rebuild in Germany by ZUPIN with original parts) I also have the regular extra rebuild Ohlins as a spare. So why did I change all that. Well in 2017 on my way to Patagonia I had a rough ride on those gravel roads and broke my regular Ohlins Rear-shock. That affected my Universal Joint on the driveshaft, my ABS and my front end. I had then all parts send in and had it fixed in Chile and some in Uruguay by certified and extremely competent BMW trained mechanics.

In Uruguay it is parked in a Garage which is in a Building one level down by elevator with 24 hour security
I have also a Metal Closet full of spare parts.

There are complete sets of Brake pads front and rear,(At least one set maybe even 2 complete sets) Light Bulbs, One brand new set Front and rear Heidenau Tires, Tires on the bike are about 5000 km
Some Oil Filters , washers, Alternator belt and what not. All my gear is there from Boots (Size 10 or 43) to my old Helmet and Motorcycle suit. (Large)

One extra Ohlins shock (750 Euro for the rebuild plus the core makes it a good 1000Euro part) A good Ladys Helmet (Only worn about 3000 KM , and lots of tools and gear. Locks and much more (at least 1500 + Euro worth of stuff)
Bike has also an Alarm-system installed. (250$ )
Rental of the Garage can be negotiated and taken over.
There is a local Insurance Office in the building which can Insure your Bike for the Mercasur countries. (Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina Paraguay and a few associate states check out Wikipedia for more info last time I paid about 100 $ US for 3 month)

Before leaving I always make sure the bike is tuned up and in top shape so that when I arrive I just have to hop on and leave.(Batterie was new in 2018 and unconnected and fully charged when I left) Bike is a very strong runner with strong compression and no oil burn issues (Last trip on 10000 km I used about 550 ml of oil. Tires where changed in Brazil in 2018 so have about 3500 KM on them (see pic)
But for Health reasons I have not been back since 2018 and looks like my Long distance traveling days are on hold for a while.

This is a complete package deal you want to explore the continent in depth over the next few years and have a good and secure and central base in South America. Then here it is, Uruguay is very central and a safe place and was always a Joy to return to.

Ich Spreche auch Deutsch je parle Francais , hablamos Espagnol

If you pass through Montreal to finalize the deal I can put you up for the time, in your own independent high end luxury apartment (200 $ night value) in one of the hippest area (Montreals Mile end/ Plateau) to register the bike in your name and to help you on your way.( so you can actually slip in a short stopover in Montreal (There are direct flights to Buenos Aires from Montreal and then its 3 hour ferry ride to Uruguay and you arrive within 15 minutes walk to where the bike is in the old town, I might even accompany you for the trip and the handover)

So if interested and to find out more email me at falcoco@yahoo.com

Cheers Henri

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
