Wanted - Shipping Crate in Darwin

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a shipping crate large enough for a Tiger 800XC in Darwin, or know where I can get one? She's off to Timor...

Thanks!

Chris

There's no need for crating the bike when you ship it to East Timor, they just lash it into a shared container. At least that's what they (I assume you're shipping with Toll) did with my bike from ET to Oz and any other bike of riders I came across in ET and Darwin.

Thanks Jeroen, but Toll told me they couldn't do it. I also tried Swire Shipping but no joy, but they recommended SDV Shipping and they've quoted 260 AUD crated or 620 AUD uncrated.

Thanks Drwnite! Luckily I know where I can get a carton of - maybe even 2 and help you drink one! Do you work there? I'll pop in and see you when I arrive around 25th (after Gibb River Road).

Hi, Chris. I'm in Dili now, waiting for the Toll boat to arrive. No problems with sending the bike DR650, uncrated. There are problems with Toll cancelling boats due to a lack of freight. See Amy Bartiz at the Darwin office, she will sort it out for you. the cost was $440, this will depend on who measures the bike, a mates DR was $35 cheaper.
Regards John

Hi John,

Thanks for that - another option then, although Australia may bankrupt me if I have to wait too long for the next Toll boat! Safe trip and I look forward to Dili!
