tubeless tyre repair kits

Hi, can anyone give advice, recommendations (and links) for tubeless tyre repair kits. Ebay has £10 kits but I don't hear good reports about them.

My GTR1400 is tubeless so I always carry a Stop 'N' Go pocket tyre plugger kit with me along with a multi tool and some CO2 cartridges: you'll need something to remove the screw/nail/whatever that has pierced your tyre and something to put air back in the tyre. When I'm on tour I also carry the necessary wheel removal tools. Worst case scenario I can remove the wheel and take it somewhere for a repair or new tyre if needed. For my F800GS I have a full puncture repair kit for tube tyres. Stop 'n' Go looks like the easiest to use and most effective.

it is for a big 4x4: tyres are Michelin XZLs 255/100 R16

Hi Mark,
I have an ARB tyre repair kit, there are many copies of it on Ebay for a 1/3 of the price, however the ARB set has alloy handles that won't snap in your hand as you push through the steel bands of a flat tyre.!

I've binned the original plastic box and added various patches, small tin of glue & bead lube, thin wire and a pair of pliers, & keep it all in a small canvas bag to keep the rattles down.
Never needed to use it in anger but it's there if I do.

+1 for the ARB kit,

had to use it a couple of times, the reaming tool works well and as Gren mentioned its fairly tough. Keep in mind with a thick mud terrain tyre or a 12 ply +, XZL/XZY or similar if the object that caused the puncture is thin, you might have to hammer the reaming tool into the hole to make it big enough to get the plug tool in, occasionally they wont 'screw' in through the steel belts/ ply's, a good hide or hard rubber mallet is handy for this. I have had to drill through a 22.5 inch truck tyre before I could get the plug in.

Those 255 XZL's are a good tyre, what vehicle are you using them on Mark ?

I've used Stop n' Go plug kit on both my bike tyre and on my Navara 4x4.

Looks very similar to 'Slime' that some motorcycle/car owners use, but IME all it does is make a mess and can often not seal properly, then when you have to use a plug the vulcanizing glue does not stick. A damaged tubeless 4x4 tyre with larger holes in the tread or sidewall will have to be patched from the inside. Sidewall splits are "sewn" closed with wire/thick cord in Africa and elsewhere, then a few patches put inside to keep crap out and stop the wire rubbing on a tube, these sorts of products make doing this very difficult, having to clean the goop inside the tyre before glue will stick to anything.

Mark, nice Iveco, good approach and departure angles, looks well sorted and ready to go! are you going to be carrying a spare tyre? make sure you carry a few inner tubes!

Yes I'll carry some inner tubes. I am set up to carry a spare tyre on a longer trip ... just short holidays for now.

I have opted for 6mm mushroom plugs and vulcanising fluid. The other tools I need are already on my toolkit: file, drill, sandpaper, pliers, sharp knife. cheap and reliable I believe. i'll need to take the tyre off, but then that's what the tubeless split rims are designed for.
