Hydraulic bottle jacks
Hi all,
Darren's query promoted me to sound the collective wisdom on this subject: Has any one seen a hydraulic bottle jack that is operated by a rotating crank rather than an up-down handle? I know that Toyota has something similar, but it's mechanical and is hard to use when clogged with dust. Last edited by Roman; 22 Aug 2006 at 14:13.

No, never seen, heard or even dreamt of such a device.
If crud in your mechanical jack is a problem, buy some chamois leather and make a simple gaiter around the threaded part - not an original idea, a Landrover part back in the late 1950s though. You can make the same up for the steering swivels on the front axle and it will treble the life of your swivel seals.
