Hi Axel & Suse

I will be doing similiar trip next year together with my wife. We are going on two bikes. Will be traveling from Poland to New Zealand. We will be happy to join you and share the costs. Actually we are planning 3 stages where it is required.

Stage 1 - China (KKH) from Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan / around 4/5 days trip / we are planning to enter China around 10.09.2018

Stage 2 - Myanmar and Thailand from India to Laos / ~10-14 days for both countries / entering Myanmar early November 2018

Stage 3 - Thailand from Cambodia to Malaysia / ~4 days / entering Thailand early/mid December 2018

There is also Karl riding from Germany to Australia around same time. He posted a thread on ADV rider forum but is not replying lately. And also Bento from Netherlands planning a trip in 2019 but perhaps we could talk him into 2018

Best,

Lukasz & Marta

Hey, I'm also planning on crossing China in the same place. Will be travelling from UK to India, me and my girlfriend on two motorbikes. Its looking like we would enter China at the end of October though, but would be great to team up and share costs

ddw,

Hi, late October will be not good if you plan to go to Ladakh in India. Entering China at the beginning or middle September will allow you to reach Ladakh in early October. At that time all the high passes might still not be covered with snow. And that region is definitely MUST SEE Perhaps you might reconsider your plans

Cheers,
Lukasz

Thanks for the advice Lukasz. Yeah my main concern is it getting late in the year to be going through those mountainous areas, Pamirs too. Have you been to Ladakh before?
It looks like i should be able to get to India at that time of year though but wont be able to explore the mountains properly... or am i wrong?

I visited Ladakh in 2012. It was beginning of October. I think first week. One week later Khardung La was covered with snow. I talked today with XT Adventures. They are couple that visited the region this year also at the beginning of October. To be safe it is the latest time to do it. So October seems to be still fine for Ladakh but later the roads might be closed.

KKH Crossing

Hi,

I'm looking to cross the KKH around September next year, my timings are really flexible.
I'm on a motorcycle and travelling with my partner (two-up).

Any ideas on costings?

Cheers

I found 1000$ per bike on this forum. This certainly needs to be checked..

Hi Tarzan and Trolik,

We are already collecting offers from Chinese agencies. If we form a group big enough (10/12 people) I think we can have a price below 1000 USD. It is 5 days crossing from Irkeshtam (Kyrgyzstan) to Khunjerab (Pakistan). Hotels, tour guide, paper work etc. included. Send me your email adresses or name/surname in a private message so I can give you details. We have a Facebook group where we are discussing details. I think Axel already invited you.

We are still open for more people

Cheers

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
