8th March 2008 - La posta del viajro en Moto - Pollos Birthday party

Most of us here know Jorge (aka pollo). He owns "La posta del viajero en moto", in Azul, 300 km south of Buenos Aires.

For those who dont know, "la posta", it is unique place. Its a hostel, but pollo will never ask for you money. The walls are covered in artwork, stickers and memerobelia from travellers the world over. A place to relax, sleep, eat , cook, shower etc... He makes it a home from home.

Jorge is one of the nicest people you will meet in your whole life. An absolutley 110% genuine guy who will do anything to help you and will always greet you with a huge smile and usually an Asado..

On the 8th March 2008, Jorge is having a big party/fiesta/ asado to celebrate his 50th Birthday. The more travellers who can be there the better.

If you are close or passing through, please try and show up to make this day special and show our appreciation of what pollo does for all of us. All are welcome in true fashion of la posta.

The address is:

La Posta del viajero en moto (there is a big sign etc)
Mendoza (off 25 de Mayo)
Azul

If someone has the GPS co-ordinates, please post here..

I will be there along with a few other travellers. If you are coming, please post up here as gathering numbers is important for organisation..

If my bike is rebuilt by then we will try to make it, although it might be a bit tight for us!
Are you ok, did you get all your docs back?
See you in few weeks! Hopefully no more "adventures" for me....
take care,

Feliz Cumpleanos, Pollo!!

TEDMAGNUM!!

Presently being in Estonia pretty much guarantees not being there, but if you were to remember despite the all the Malbec and Quilmes, please pass on our warmest regards and best wishes to Jorge from Nick and Kristina. We only spent a couple of nights there during our trip, but his welcome was the epitome of Argentine hospitality.

In case the constant traveller traffic confuses him, we where on a Silver 1150GS, and our mural was the half French/half Estonian flag under the top bunk on the far wall!! We passed through Sept and later in Dec 2006.

Thanks in advance!

GPS coordinates are:
S - 36º 47. 442
W - 59º 52. 259

Have a great time!

Javier,
We are far behind (following my crash and waiting 4 weeks in Coyhaique to get the parts from Germany!) so we won´t be able to make it for the 8th of March. Give a big kiss from us to Pollo and we will try to get there later in the month! We are very sorry taht we will miss this! I had been looking forward to it!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
