Alexandria Fixer

Hi overlanders,

Sorry to start a new thread on an old topic, but I can't seem to find any updated info on reliable fixers in Alexandria.

I have tried to ring Walid Hanafy mentioned a while back but am not getting an answer. Kamal in Aswan has given me Nermien's number in Alex but she has quoted me for over 850€ to clear Alex customs only, not including the price of the roro… Eslam in Port Said said this shouldn't be above E£2500 but he can't find anyone for me in Alex and we can't find a roro from the UK to Port Said rather than Alex…

Any help would be very much appreciated at this point and I'm sure the HU community will pull it off as usual!

Thanks a lot in advance.

in the last few months some over landers used Nermin in Alexandria
and they give good feed back about her company
no hidden costs or any tricks like that .......
850 Euros that is expensive just to clear customs ,

if im around you have a home to stay
cheers

How long is the clearance anticipated to take?
My experience in Alex a couple of years ago was not a good one!

I hope that 850 euros includes the dreaded fire extinguishers!!

Omar:

Ferry should arrive in next couple of days, we fly in on Saturday… Arrive really late at night so wouldn't want to bother you but very kind offer, maybe we should exchange contact details?

Nermien was the one to quote that price, an her company do seem very capable so I think I will go through them and hopefully the fire extinguisher we have will be enough!

Hi, what are the contact details for Nermien? Hopefully be needing assistance there soon.

Did you get a direct flight to Alexandria or via Cairo?

Here are Nermien's contact details, she speaks very good English and has what seems to be a very trustworthy team. We haven't yet seen the results as our landy comes out tomorrow but they've been very polite and helpful and courteous.

Email : nermien_mamish@alltransint.com.eg

Mobile : 00201222404884
Name : nermien
Fixed lines‏ ‎ ALEXandria‏ : 002034852111
Website : AllTrans Int. | services that set standards

It's a little expensive but everyone says there are no surprises, you get what you pay for. I'll let you know if not.

We flew to Alex via Cairo which is a half hour flight but the train or bus is apparently very easy and much cheaper. In hindsight we were in no rush and would have preferred that option.

Cheers

Tristan

I can confirm that Nermien's company offers excellent and no-surprises service. We shipped our LC out of Alexandria in February and everything went well.

We expected that shipping out of Egypt would be a pain in the ass, but thanks to her company (and Omar's private guesthouse ), we actually had a great time

Nermien has given me a similar quote.

Lindikhaya, any news on how your experience went?

Hi all,

I'm thinking of shipping the car from Alexandria to Rotterdam and flying back to Holland with Thimba, my dog, and expect to be in Alexandria around October 20-25.
I don't fancy traveling 3.500 km from Turkey to Holland in Winter -

Cheers from Nairobi,

Gee

Hi,

About our experience:

Nermien cares a lot about what reviews she gets, very active on Facebook etc and so I really think her trustworthy. However we were stupidly stingy and tight budgeted and decided to go with a roro instead of a container. If the difference in price is only marginal, go for container. The guys at the port in Alex crashed our car and we had quite severe damage... I do believe this was out of Nermien's control though, so would still say she did a good job.

Cheers from Gonder,

Tristan

Thanks Tristan,

The RoRo is something that had concerned me. Don't really want to arrive in Egypt with damaged vehicle, stolen items, burnt out clutch etc.

Hope it was easy enough to get fixed.
Regards
Richard

quote for shipping car from Alexandria to Rotterdam

Hi all,

I have received a good quote from Alltrans for shipping my Land Rover from Alexandria to Rotterdam in a 20 ft container:

local costs all inclusive: 4.000 ep (440 euro)
shipping : 400 euro

This excludes the Rotterdam side, which I estimate at 600 euro. Total costs approximately 1.500 euro, all in.

Looks like a good quote if you compare this with the Turkey ferry: talked to an English couple who used the ferry recently and they payed 1.600 usd for the ferry and 600 usd for clearing on the Egyptian side.

I'll let you know how things went when I have collected the car from Rotterdam port.

Cheers,

Gee

Hi Gee,
Did everything go fine with the Alltrans shipment? How much did you pay at the Rotterdam end? And did you just turn up at the Rotterdam port to collect ghe car or did you arrange something in advance there?
Thanks for your info!!!!
