A week ago we were in Medellin at Suzuki Super Servicio. Carlos Mesa (a very good mecanic) and Mario de Bedout (the manager) are extremely friendly and helpfull people. They welcome overland travellers and have a lot of experience in maintaining a wide range of (big) motorcycles.
Carlos and Mario speak both english, are full of humor and like pie.
The workshop is so clean, you can eat from the floor.

If you need tires in Medellin, go to Caratera 52 no 57_43. This part of the street is full of tire shops and bike related stuff.

Well, I saw their website two weeks ago and sent them an email requesting a chain kit and sprockets for my Vtsrom, SUZUKI SUPER SERVICIO I mean.

I have still had no reply, so if they want adventure riders to go there, maybe they need to be reading their emails a bit more?

If you know someone there, can you get them to send me an email please as I need the above items by the 25th Nov.

Shameless Promotion for Mario at Suzuki Super Servicio

TravellingStrom -
Hey its Obadiah - we met in Tulum - I was on a red KLR coming down from NY. Just said goodbye to Mario this morning - he and his shop are amazing. He made us feel right at home, gave us full access to his shop, got parts within minutes for all our bikes, and took us out driving in the mountains. Don't worry about not hearing from him, he will be able to get any V-Strom part right away when you get there.
To anyone else who is going through Medellin (and I recommend you do - see my blog post if you need a push Pura Vida 2009-10 » New York to Argentina by motorcycle…… ) and needs anything motorcycle related, Mario will take amazing care of you - we felt like family by the time we left. He lived in the states and speaks English, his mechanics are super skilled and he is too, wonderful people all around, I can't say enough. I wish there was a guy like him in NYC, I would stop doing my own repairs!
Thank you Mario! Everyone else, bring your business to him if you're in Medellin, you won't be disappointed!

Suzuki Superservicios Medellin

I can recommend Marios repair shop without any limitation. The mechanic Carlos is amazing. He adjusted my double carburator from my DR 800 which was never sold in Colombia.
These guys found new 125 Jets (which i needed for the height) and brake pads for this model in 10 Minutes. This was stunning.
Specially the rear brake pads for this model are not easy to get in Germany because Suzuki used this brake system only in the last two model years.

If they don`t answer via phone or mail - hey, just drive to these guys. They have everything or they know in which other shop they can get the parts and they get them with rebates.

Thank you Mario and Carlos for your help and the good prices! The bike runs great now!

Well, I am reluctant to put a bad word on this thread but there are a few reasons why I am doing so.

For one, I have yet to hear back from Mario, from two different email addresses and also a PM though this HUBB and it has been over a month now.

The chain kit I needed was there and he had received my email and kept one for me, so good on him for that.

But, and there are a few of them, a part was broken and lost off the bike, just a gremlin bell, but it was there when it went in.

When I went to leave the bike would not go into gear and they had to take it back in to adjust the clutch, that should have been done before I got there.

My tyre pressure we LET DOWN by the tech, I did not notice this until the next day, I have a specific tyre on my rear and it needs extra pressure, that was not nice.

But, the worst thing I found just the other day was that the rivet master link I specifically asked to be installed was not, I have a spring master clip and this service centre is supposed to be Suzuki specific and they should know better.

Well, I am two days from Santiago Chile, where I hope to get a better master link at least.

I am sorry for my bad report, but the spring clip was the last straw, even though I should have checked it before I left.

I've never met Mario, nor been to Medellin. I think your being very very harsh on him.

He knows perfect written English, does he? Or you've written to him in perfect Spanish? FWIW, if a HUBB member has less than 8 posts, he can't send/receive PMs. He has 1 post.

You have proof he did this? Why would he bother? You're sure it wasn't a street kid or a dodgy tyre valve?

Did he have a rivet link that he could use? On low powered bikes like overlanders, including the Vstrom, a spring master clip is more than adequate. You've made it how many hundreds of miles from Medellin to half way down Chile without a problem with the chain, right? A chain is a chain, just because you're on a Suzuki and he's a Suzuki wrench makes no difference.

It's good to hear you have no real problems, if this is all you have to complain about.

Mario had perfect English, yes.


I did not know about the one post rule, but there is still the issue of no answer to any emails, my point stands.


A Gremlin bell is s silly thing, look it up on google, the point is, it was broken off in the shop, my point stands.


As for not having the bike ready to go once it has been repaired, yes it is a big deal thank you very much, I do expect the bike to checked and working after repairs, my point stands.


I know for a fact my pressure was adjusted, I have a tyre gauge on the dash and it was at 46psi when it went in, I let it run low for two days JUST to check is I had a leak, I did not, it was manually let down, my point stands.


I specifically asked him for a rivet master link, my point stands. I have had these clip links come off in the past, just because it has not done so yet is not the issue, the fact my request was not adhered to is the issue, my point stands.


You do not need colour in a name to make your opinions known, anyone can have their say. I am in a strange country and I had some problems, minor though they seem to you, they can turn into a big problem later down the track and it does take away from the experience I could otherwise have had.

Has anyone visited the Suzuki Super Servicio shop recently?

I'm in Medellin and want to get a few things worked on while I'm in the city. Carlos has a great reputation...but I cannot narrow down the correct address or the correct phone number. The website has not been updated in over a year.

There are three address listed on the HUBB and ADV rider and several phone numbers (none of which work). I don't want to go searching in random spots for a service shop in the city traffic.

For what it is worth there are dealers everywhere, there is even a ducati dealership.
There is also good access to tyres but I couldn't get a rear TKC 80 for my BWW so the guys have ordered one for me from Bogota to be delivered. About the same price as in the UK
