690 Enduro Fuel Tank

Hi,
I'm looking at taking my 690 Enduro to Morocco early next year. Biggest concern is tank range.
Has anybody fitted any of the Safari tanks that are available?
If so, how easy was it and how do they fit??
Cheers,
Chris

the German KTM-team-west (former KTM-Sommer) turned up with there conversion on a Adventure bike meeting a few weeks ago, it's there version of a "690 Adventure", gives you a glimpse on how the new Adventure eventually will look like.

have a look at the pictures:

I don't think its a big deal to plug the tank in place...

As far as I'm aware the tank itself should fit without additional measures. You do need to drill something out of the stock tank to attach the new tank to the stock fuel pump, though. But they give you some kind of a adapter or something.

Touratech has the detailed mounting instructions as a PDF on the product page (at least here in Germany). They should give you a pretty good idea on how difficult it is to mount the whole thing...

tank extension

Hi

I put a KTM 950 SE tank (14l) on the 690, a second fuel pump with the switch in the cockpit delivers the fuel to the rear tank.

Here are some pics: Miles-to-ride

You can buy the whole tank as a set at Herzlich willkommen beim Roemerteam for about Euro 1200,-

Some more pics: Reiseenduro & Adventure Forum :: Thema anzeigen - 690 @v Light, Touratech- und R?-Variante (sehr viele Pix)

So far I rode about 1000km and everything works fine ....

Have fun
Thomas

Rally-Raid in the UK make a pair of additional tanks that fasten on to the bike in the traditional place, adds 10 litres in total. They're also developing a rear 5 litre tank that mimics the left hand mounted silencer, testing soon I believe?
