Overland Land Rover Defender 110 For Sale

I've made the tough decision to sell my Defender. She performed extremely well on my recent overland adventure to Central Asia, covering 23,000 miles in 5.5 months. I can no longer get vehicle insurance in the UK as a non-resident. I've considered moving it to France but, with no further overland travel on the horizon, I've decided that it makes more sense to sell her. Details are below.

1993 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon, 200Tdi. Equipped for overland travel and has recently returned from a 5 month journey through Russia, Central Asia and Europe (see the trip blog at www.bermudarover.com). Vehicle modifications include the following:
  • Rock sliders
  • Additional fuel tank fitted in rear-right wheel arch
  • Security window grilles
  • Underbody protection (diff guards front and rear, steering guard, heavy-duty steering rod)
  • Dual battery system
  • Clim-Air wind deflectors
  • Exmoor Trim front seats (other seats removed)
  • Coolant alarm
  • Removed Kenlowe fan and installed a standard fan, thermo couple, shroud and new radiator
  • Black steel modular wheels fitted with Continental Cross Contact tyres
  • Bearmach snorkel
  • Engel MT45 fridge/freezer on slide behind driver’s seat
  • Storage area behind passenger seat (for jerry cans of water, etc)
  • Rear seating removed and storage area built using marine-ply, including a sleeping platform
  • Raptor cubby box between front seats, fitted with remote monitor for split charge system
  • Additional battery monitor fitted near gear stick
  • GB-Sol semi-flexible solar panel (glued to roof) with Morningstar MPPT regulator
  • X-Eng winch grade split charge system
  • Noise Killer full soundproofing kit
  • Raptor dash console with stereo, 12-volt cigarette lighter sockets, USB sockets, TIM oil pressure gauge and TIM turbo boost gauge
  • Upgraded TIM temperature gauge fitted in dash
  • X-Eng security items: pedal box lock, gear stick lock, ignition barrel shield
  • GPS tracking device installed
  • Front doors fitted with X-Eng trouser-guard
  • Rear passenger doors fitted with X-Eng extenders to allow wider opening
  • X-Eng disk handbrake
  • Terrafirma heavy-duty drive flanges on all wheels
  • Super Pro bushes all around
  • Upgraded suspension: OE springs and Bilstein gas shocks
  • Swing away spare wheel carrier and cover for spare wheel
  • Rear bumperettes
  • Rear LED worklight and interior LED lights
  • Front bumper with integral recovery point
  • Rear bumper has integral recovery point (could be replaced with NATO hitch if preferred)
  • Protective grilles over headlights
  • New full headlining installed

The vehicle comes with the following equipment:
  • Two custom-made (6 inch thick) memory foam mattresses with custom upholstery-grade removable covers. They fit neatly on the sleeping platform for sleeping inside but can be easily taken out for use inside a tent
  • Two sleeping bags
  • Wolf Box (1) with Camp Cover kitchen organiser liner containing assorted kitchen equipment (cutlery, knives, plates. bowls, mugs, BBQ tools, etc)
  • Wolf Box (2) with Camp Cover liner containing cooking equipment (two Trangia stove sets, a Trangia adaptor for camping gas, cast iron skillet with cover, oven mitts, etc)
  • Wolf Box (3) with Camp Cover liner for storing dry food items
  • Bush Pig braai with storage cover
  • Portable Pett camp toilet with large supply of ‘wag-bags’ for waste disposal
  • Pop-up Quechua toilet tent (can also be used as a shower tent)
  • Camping table and two camping chairs
  • Collapsible bucket for vehicle washing, etc.
  • Two collapsible rectangular bowls for dish-washing
  • Cutting boards for food preparation
  • Ghillie kettle
  • Spade (for recovery and digging toilet holes when wild-camping)
  • Wyeth-Scott hand winch with spare handles and storage bag
  • Plastic track-mats for recovery
  • Recovery bag containing shackles, gloves, tow strap, tree-strop and recovery point pin for front bumper
  • Coleman 3-in-1 camp lantern
  • Heavy duty jump leads in storage box
  • Camp Cover holdall containing miscellaneous tools (spanner set, screwdrivers, pliers, multimeter, chisels, molegrips, crimper, hammer, wheel nut wrench with extendable handle, allen keys, viscous fan spanner, assorted lubricants, etc.)
  • Draper Expert socket set
  • Viair air-compressor with storage bag
  • Platypus water filter kit
  • Jerry cans for water storage
  • Camping extension cord and multi-outlet
  • Power Hunt 12-volt microwave oven and electric heater with power lead (connects to Anderson connector behind battery box)

  • Land Rover bottle jack with wheel chocks
  • Tyre plug repair kit
  • Storage bag containing various glues, fluids, tapes, zip-ties, etc
  • Camp Cover holdall containing an assortment of spare parts (list can be provided) – may be sold separately
  • Fire extinguisher

Photos of the vehicle (from acquisition to current condition) can be accessed online using this link - County Station Wagon - bermudarover

A history of the work on this vehicle can be found on my blog using this link - https://bermudarover.wordpress.com/the-vehicle/ and there are plenty of photos of the vehicle on the blog.

Vehicle has recently been serviced and minor issues that arose on the trip have been repaired. The vehicle is still covered by MOT but will be given a fresh MOT soon.

Asking price is 16,000 GB Pounds (which is way less than I’ve put into this vehicle).

Vehicle is located in Somerset, England.

That's a real pity

Hi there, we did a similar (shorter) trip last year from LDN to Hong King through Europe, Turkey- Iran- the Stans and then China- 28 000 kms - 4.5months and in the end it felt as if our defender was our home!! what a
wonderful time we had.
I wish you could keep your vehicle!! it sounds as if you had a fantastic time as well! I get really attached to land Rovers specifically

Sounds like a great trip Jill. I also know what you mean about getting attached to vehicles. I became very fond of my Defender. She didn't put a foot wrong throughout the trip.

I can no longer get vehicle insurance in the UK as a non-resident, so that is one of the reasons I am selling. Also, with no further overland trips on the immediate horizon, it is difficult to justify maintaining the Defender in another country without being used for a couple of years.

Landy 110 for sale

Hi Bermudalandy

Interested in the description of your Landy.

I see it is in Somerset. I am in Wiltshire, near Westbury.

Would like to have a look at it. Could that be arranged?

Regards,

Alan Brook.

I love that one! And I would buy it directly if I would have 20k EUR spare and my wife wouldn´t go crazy (just bought her an Transalp, so the next lag of the trip we go on 4 wheels, just 2 times 2).

Good luck in selling it to a good home!

Cheers Sascha

Alan,

You are more than welcome to see the vehicle in Somerset. The road tax expired at the end of November so it is now listed as SORN. As such, it cannot be legally driven to you in Wiltshire for viewing.
