i left the travel & medivac insurance thing a bit late given that i am leaving brisbane on saturday... can anyone suggest an insurer who can provide 1. travel insurance & / or 2. medical evac insurance for australian residents / citizens?

i have been trolling through the hubb but all the referals regarding this are for american and british / eurpopean only citizens.
thanks in advance

Greetings Dave

I've used these guys for travel insurance

Travel Insurance :: Aussietravelcover for Worldwide Travel Insurance

They will cover you if you are riding a large capacity motorbike (assuming you have a license) :-)

As for med evac I can't help you but you could ask the ATC people and see if they have any ideas

Regards

Ian J

Try CGU travel insurance. They were happy to cover three of us for a 6 month motorcycle trip at a reasonable rate. You will want to confirm this with them in writing as it doesn't explicitly mention the scenario of travelling on your own vehicle. This does include some level of medivac, but I dare say that it is not up to the level of the specialist medivac covers. Have a read of the fine print.

Hi Dave

Have a look at our links page on our website for contact details for Ryan Dowling at Travel Utopia. He is a very good friend of ours and recommended some good insurance for us from Oz.

Hope he can help you

WorldCare & Mondial

I have WorldCare underwritten by Allianz and can recommend them as I have made claims and found them very professional and always paid out. I have not used the repatriation however, and hope I never have to

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
