If I were you I would register the bike in France. That way you wont have any Road tax or MOT's to worry about as well as having full euro green card cover. Some time this year I intend getting a French drivers licence also

I thought I had found the answer with Ebike, but although they say 365 days euro cover.
They only actually give 1 month at a time...

Anyone got any bright ideas?
I thought about French insurance, having a place in France.
They will give me full Euro cover no problem, for as long as I like.
But being the bike is UK registered,
the French insurance is not recognised in England.
Even though it's the same company (Groupama)

Any suggestions????????

See post number 18 in here:-

You have to argue for what you want; initially, all of the brokers just want your cash for minimum effort on their part.
(but I am not sure what you mean by "one month at a time" in this context).

Incidentally, surely French insurance has to be recognised in the UK, at least until the day that the UK (or Scotland) leaves the EU?

I see this as a contradiction in their policy, so thats why I called them on it.

Having now been on to Ebike again, and they tell me I can get cover for 365 days as long as it's for one bike 2 riders only,
it won't work for their multibike multi rider policy.

I would expect a French ins policy to provide at least the "green card" cover, much as per post 2 in this thread:-
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...nsurance-69071
There again, France is reputed to have the most cases of any country outstanding against it within the European courts for flouting the regulations.

I'll have to get around to looking at the small print of my multi-bike, single rider policy brokered by ebike. I spent quite a bit of effort on this at the last renewal, to get what I wanted and not what they were offering to sell at the time.

"it's just that the Gendarmes tend to give Uk registered vehicles more leeway" - the same thing happens here nowadays, especially with all the reliance on automatic systems to catch the miscreants.
I have watched traffic wardens walk straight past vehicles which have foreign plates while ticketing UK registered vehicles - it's all too much paperwork.
