workshop in samarkand?
I am heading Uzbekistan from Almaty. I carry new tyres because old ones still have 1000 km or so. I prefer to change them in Samarkand or Tashkent than in Almaty. Does anyone know where I can go?

Do it in Tashkent ... there are almost no bikes in Samarkand.
Tashkent has a bikers bar ... someone there can advise you. The bikers bar is called 'VM Bar' and is located across Shakhrisabz st from the Grand Plaza Hotel ... known to the locals as the 'Tata Hotel'

Assuming you have the tubes(if necessary) and can take the wheel off the bike...any tire shop can do that for you...you don't need a motorcycle specific shop...as they all pretty much change them using tire irons.

VM Bar
I found the bar in Tashkent, Colebatch, is called the VM. Very useful information. I met there the President of The Steel Scorpions, an Uzbek Motoclub. He gave me some tips and names in Samarkan. And a guy named Rustam, Africa Twin owner and very good mechanic. Is really friendly and changed my tyres for free. He barely speaks English but he does his best. Phone number: +998971044875
