Insurance office at Tangier med

I'm going to need to get insurance at the border and will be arriving at Tangier med on a weekday (not Friday). Does anyone know what time the insurance booth is open? I'll most likely be arriving very early in the morning.

Secondly, I understand that the insurance booth is actually after customs. How do you get past customs without having any insurance?

The last 2 years the booth has been closed when I got in on a Sunday night about 8pm, might just be sundays though

the booth is only just past customs and still within the port

No UK insurer will issue a Green Card for Morocco now. Aviva were my last hope and have back tracked. Too risky for them apparently.

Does anyone know which company runs the insurance office in Tangier Med? I need some way of contacting them.

So far my searches have not come up with anything.

Thanks.

I managed to get in the touch with port authority re: the insurance booth.

It's open 24hrs so there's no worry about arriving at 6am and not being able get insured.

That may be the theory, but this Morocco and reality is often rather different.....
It was closed the last time I went through in Dec 13. I'll be trying again later in the year. Good luck, but you can get insurance at any major city.

I met a guy on a 650 Dakar at Tangier Med when I was there last October and he told me he had Insurance with Carol Nash.
Last week I re-newed my bike insurance......with Carole Nash and asked about insurance in Morocco. I was told I can have the same level of cover as in the uk (fully comprehensive) and it will cost me £30 for the first week then an additional £25 for each extra week.

I'll look into it before I travel there next, hopefully in October again but I've never had any issues with buying insurance in Maroc.
In Tangier Med it couldn't be any easier, it took me less than 2 minutes last time; the prices are set and you won't be overcharged.

Regarding being stopped by the police, it's very unlikely and they have never checked my insurance there. I've heard of people arriving in Ceuta, then travelling to Tetouan to buy insurance.

I'm back from the trip.

Tanger-Med was a breeze. I was through customs and out of the port complete with cash and insurance (from the AXA bureau) in 15 mins. Even had time to end up in the ladies toilets while a female officer was in there.
