how many bog rolls?

A difficult question to broach the subject on, but of more importance than the numbere of Jihadists about, so here we go.... Do most toilets have bog roll? If not is there something to clean up your nipsy with? Just not looking forward to doing it with my hand.

Also I don't want to be transporting lots of bog roll if the porcelain shed is actually 5*. I've read all about burning bum wad in the desert areas if it needs to be done in the dunes.

Sorry if this is all a bit unpleasant, but Its playing on my mind. Its also a bit funny!

I buy some of the little packs of Kleenex tissues (about the size of a 10 pack of fags) Just about right for a turnout if there's no bogroll.

I always stash them in various places; jacket pocket, tankbag, rucsack, etc. That way, I don't have to remember where they are when my mental capacity is impaired by the urgent need to unload.

I'll follow you then!

Some interesting bits of infomations there, but we still haven't got to the 'turtles' head of the questions.

Is there any bog roll in the aveage Moroccan poo poo parlour?

And a crime worse than anything is highwaymaning away the toilet roll from an already lacking facility. Shame on you......

Its even worse if you're touching cloth with a squirril's head popping out for his nuts... especially if you cant find a suitable place to to stop and unload!

Believe me I was caught out a few years back with no bog roll and a deli belly... (pants were used in emergancy to swipe and wipe) .. and before you ask yes I did bin them afterwards!!

I always carry bog roll / tissue nowadays...

To answer your question: if it's upmarket hotel or likely to be used by foreign tourists then yes. Some basic hotels give you a roll with your room key.

If not or a basic roadside cafe then less likely.
Not need to bring more than 1 bog roll (until you get the runs).
Just harvest from toilets/hotels + resto napkins as you go.

Well, thats an interesting morning of enlightenment. 1 (semi sacred) bog roll and a few packs of tissues added to the list.

Thanks for the 'interesting comments'.

I was a tad worried about riding around with a 12 pack of bum wad strapped to the top of the top box. That woud not look like a seasoned traveller and would create far too many diversionary questions.

It would look very funny though!!!!!

Back in the 90's I was working in London with a few of my mates, we were having a couple of after work pints in a pub, down by Warwick Gardens, the Radnor Arms I think it was called. Anyway, my mate nips to the crapper and returns ten minutes later, on his way past the bar he points out to the barman that there is no sh*t roll in the bog, he sits back down not too happy about the situation, before I could say anything he put his feet back up on the stool in front of him and I noticed he was only wearing one sock. I've never laughed so much in my life.

So my advice is always pack and extra pair of socks.

thanks for making my day! I have had a shit day and this cheered my up.

Nothing worse than rushing in with an explosive situation to find there's no clean up tools after the event. I would never ditch my socks! .... but pants have been left about various places.

I usually avoid carrying any of that super soft quilted type stuff as it might look bigger and more volume but often has less mileage in the roll. Some of the cheaper recycled stuff squashes flat and packs down well and has more mileage. But to be honest I can't say I have ever had trouble finding anything suitable in Morocco in even quite small towns.

As to how many you carry ? Well that depends on many factors, mainly related to size of exit area, consistency of exited material etc..... Far too many factors to give a fail safe answer. You could start a poll perhaps, should you feel the need, but you would have to include variables and process the data to match your personal circumstances to obtain the most accurate answer.

Forget toilet rolls, just take some packs of wet wipes. These are useful also for cleaning your hands before eating, cleaning the bike headlight/mirrors/indicators, and all sort of other things.

Wet Wipes/Baby wipes - certainly one of the most important items in any overlanders kit.......................yet strangely lacking from most discussions

Even us 4x4 drivers will have a pack somewhere, and if someone says they don't they are lying

Wet wipes do sound so very symapathetic to the nipsal cause so I might just ditch the bog roll and go for the WW option but with an ecomonical twist. Keep the bridges standing until you really have to set them aflame. At that point your bum will be looking like the arse end ot the batmoblie anyway, so make a show!

I feel bad that I have made fun of toilet problems in Marroc, but I had to know, and in the end, toilet jokes are just funny!

go easy one and all!
