I'm really sad to say that HUBB UK regular Geoff Keys, isn't going to be with us this year.

He'll be sadly missed. :(

YIPPEEE! On Wednesday next week he's setting off around the world :clap::clap:

Happy travels mate. Looking forward to hearing how it goes. And thanks for all your help volunteering!!! :thumbup1:

Firstly, thanks Sam for keeping us updated on the latest news. I can’t wait!

Got back last weekend from my trip across Asia - Russia, Mongolia and the 'Stans (which I departed for just days after HUBB UK 2013 - my first time to the event). Had an awesome time (despite being a biker of the pedal kind).

For now, though, I’m sorting out all my photos from the Siberian winter (which are mostly of snow, trees, my bike and a few frozen selfies!) and it’s getting me all excited for putting together photos from the whole trip for my presentation at this year’s event.

So hopefully see some of you there this year… on my new motorbike! Yup, that’s right, I’ve seen the light and have upgraded to a motor (getting lazy in my old age). You see, a lot can change between 2 HUBB events…

BTW - my book Desert Snow (One Girl's Take On Africa By Bike) is available at the current reduced rate (only £2.98) for the kindle version for only 2 more days. Bargain if you've not read it yet! Otherwise I'll be bringing some paperbacks and soon-to-be-published hardback limited edition version to HUBB if you want a signed copy :) sorry - us self-published authors have to squeeze in a plug whenever we can!

Fantastic to have you with us again Helen, and many congrats on your trip. Can't wait to hear more about it, and to see some of your shots. What a major thing to do at any time, but in winter!!!

Congrats on the bike too! :mchappy: You do realise you won't be able to eat so many bananas now, nor so much pasta :innocent:

And your plug? Of course you can. Tis a travel book isn't it. And for anyone who hasn't read it, this book is in my list of favourite travel books. Well worth snagging a copy!!! :thumbup1:

Want to know more? Check out this review I did of Desert Snow - intriguing title eh...

Let those who ride decide

Thats me + 1 booked for my first HU event bier.. I will be arriving on my new RTW KLR 650..(1990 vintage just new to me) her build is nearly complete..

If any peeps need a ride to and from the event starting out from Lincoln drop me a line. I have two machines, (Sisters) with the intention of having multiple travellers flying in and out during the RTW on bike two. Sounds complicated I know. But if you need a bike to get you too and from the event the offers there, you just pay fuel…

Great stuff. Looking forward to meeting you. Very cool offer too! Wonder who will take you up on it.

Hunt out Graham Field when you are at the HUBB UK. Both of you are fans of the KLR 650s :mchappy:

One of the things we'll be doing over the next weeks is introducing the various Exhibitors who are going to be joining us at the HUBB UK.

Some, you'll know very well, some will be new to you. All are coming so you have the chance to get to know them and what they do rather better than you can when you see them at more usual mainstream shows. :thumbup1: There's no time to really talk at those is there.

Have a look at the HUBB UK page and you'll see the full range of companies.

All specialise in either supplying overland and long distance touring kit, or helping those who aren't so lucky as to be able to hit the long road (yet) :innocent: to experience some amazing parts of the world.

Who are Stahlkoffer? They tell us:

We have now been in existence for seven years. We manufacture bespoke motorcycle luggage for the global adventurer.

Our panniers (manufactured in the West Midlands) can be tailor-made to our customers specifications and are manufactured to the highest standards using 2mm aluminium, powder-coated inside and out. Our latest design means panniers are “quick-release” and the mounting system is simple but extremely robust and efficient.

Not only do we make panniers but also roll-bags, tail-bags, crash bars, engine protectors and side-stand extenders as well as many other accessories too many to mention.

Everything is sourced wherever possible in the West Midlands and we do not buy anything in from China or the Far East. - thereby promoting the saying “local jobs for local people”.

All our products are functional in design and pitched at the right price.

Please check out our website for further details (StahlKoffer Motorcycle Panniers)

More news! Biker FM are going to be with us. Have a chat with DJ Slimbo when you get the chance.

Graham presents a show on Biker FM on Wednesday evenings that's completely devoted to motorcycles, overlanding and music.

And, on air, he's promised to take part in the Slow Bike Race! Going to hold him to that! :thumbup1:

Suspect this isn't a sight we are going to see the like of at the HUBB UK. :innocent:

If you've been to the HUBB UK before then you may well have come across Lisa and Jason.

The news is that they set off earlier in the year on a ride through South, Central and North America. Jason is taking some cracking footage as they go.

This short film from Tierra del Fuego will give you a taste of a magical part of the world.

Ride a motorcycle? When was the last time you changed your own tyres? Most people I ask that question of can’t remember. Why should they? Buy new tyres and the garage puts ‘em on most of the time.

Of course when you hit the long road it’s a skill that’s very handy to have. For years, Grant Johnson has been running training courses on tyre care, repair and changing, and this year we are lucky that he’s up for doing his session for us. If you don’t already change your own tyres, then you ought to get to this presentation. Hmmm, even if you do, you might learn something useful…
