Unfortunately I'm tied up during mid-June to July for the next few years so won't be able to come along for the foreseeable future (unless it's ever scheduled at a different time of year) but hopefully there'll be mini-meets and other events I can get to, so all is not lost.

Still ain't managed to see Ted Simon, that was my main reason for trying like a lunatic to get to this year's. Ah well, life's rich pageant and all that.

Just spent two warm and sunny days at Donington, and now recovering a bit after an intense trip. I must take my hat off ( ''Chapeau'') to all the organisation for the huge effort and professional way the whole event is organised, and the the army of volunteers who just make things happen. A special thanks to Sam Manicom for being patient with my questions whilst he was in constant demand.
The presentations I went to were excellent and well attended, and the outside bar was already under pressure on Thursday ( thirstydoh ) night bier.

I must also thank everyone I met on the stands who give freely of their time to help me formulate ideas for a HUBB meeting in France 2015, especially Grant and Susan; Sam Manicom; Ted Simon; Paddy Tyson and Overland Magazine; and the volunteers at the sharp end for invaluable hints and advice.

Thanks for all the organisation and hard work for this event, I enjoyed all the speakers i heard and the few conversations i had.
I think for m e its not my place as although friendly I am not forceful enough to introduce myself aggressively to all.Also i realised that riding overland will never happen..although i wil get out and about locally if i ever get a chance to get this bike on the road..only been waiting since last October to Mot it!
One lesson i learnt was not to sleep in a van on the car park as not camping meant i missed out on all the banter and friendship of passing folk,,,,,but at least it did give me time to think and to realise i shall never wander the world....not least due to cost and home commitments , This does not mean i didnt enjoy the great presentations and wonder at the bravery and endurance of some of you guys out there.Or the humour shared and the realisation that many things we all have in common as riders of the world.
To be honest i got bored after and in between events,and not being a big drinker or lover of loud music man there was little to do after 8 pm,,,,but i do have a low threshold if not occupieddoh But it was so wonderful to see friends reuniting and finding time to rejoice over a beer or two!
Once again thank you for superb planning and the hard work of the helpers.....they always had a cheerful word when i met them!Thank you to for all the great speakers who helped to make it interesting and worth listening to.
I shall stay on here but who knows one day when I am 80 i might get to follow my desirebier
Ps how can it be a quiet camp area when huge jumbo jets roared over from 4,30 am till some 10,30 at night:confused1:

Just rolled in after my first ever HUBB meet, a great weekend, weather certainly helped and great to meet loads of old friends and I made a few new ones too!

Not so sure about the early morning alarm call by Ryan Air but otherwise a fantastic site.

Toilets and showers good, beer cheap, food a bit pricy but I supoose you can't have everything bier

Before the weekend I was thinking about two offers I had received last week, one to go and ride the Tuareg Rally in Morocco next March and then a couple of days later an invite to go to Morocco in October (the perfect Rally Recce) but still wasn't sure.

After this weekend I was sufficiently inspired that both need to go on the agenda, in fact I told so many people I was going to do both trips I guess there's no backing out now :helpsmilie:

We enjoyed it from start to finish a fantastic group of people with one interest but hundreds of way of getting out there and doing it . Thanks to Ian & Tom and all the volunteers for a great job :thumbup1: enjoyed a few bier with friends old new. Roll on next year :clap:

Just back from the Hubb and it's what a gathering of like minded people should be. Laid back, relaxed and sometimes exhilarating conversation. A big Thankyou to the organisers and helpers for making it a fantastic weekend. ( oh and Mother Nature actual sunshine for 4days!!!)

Thanks to all who came for the Roadkill - it was great to see so many people getting hands on this year, not only because it saved us a lot of work :wink3: but because it's really what the whole thing should be about.

The new location worked really well for us and I hope we managed to get back the 'party' feel that veteran HUBBers will remember from Ripley.

A massive thanks to Danny & Family without who the Roadkill simply couldn't happen and wouldn't exist. I'm simply Danny's terrapin (apologies, it's an 'in' joke!)

Thanks also to 'team Yorkshire' who failed to see the flag we put up in their honour but who provided great company and made me laugh like I haven't done for a long time.

Look forward to seeing some of you again at the Mini Meet at Haggs Bank in September where I will be remembering to go to bed occasionally and to not drink the sloe gin.

This was our second year there with four classic Land Rover Carawagons, this year joined by a SWB converted to a sleeper.

It was great to be there again and we enjoyed all of the seminars we attended, from the 'old pros' to the 'first timers'.
As usual we were often torn between seminars we wanted to attend which were on at the same time - sometimes we had to split up and later give each other a synopsis around the firepit! Not a complaint at all - just too many good things going on all of the time!


Thanks to all the folk who came to chat with us on our stand.

Thanks as well to all of the volunteers and organisers. It's great to be greeted by cheerful and enthusiastic volunteers on arrival; it really sets the mood for the whole event.

And special thanks to Sam who looked after us again, always with a smile on his face and kind words whenever we bumped in to him.

Another excellent show! Many thanks to all those who got involved, organising, or helping in anyway putting on the event.

As a Landy owner it was great catching with bikers met from last year's show and from Morocco earlier this year, and meeting new people, it got to a stage where I daren't pass anyone without asking questions.

The range and depth of knowledge of like-minded people and the information given freely makes this an event not to be missed, shame there's only one a year! :)

Best joke of the weekend; my friend Janice arrives late on Friday evening, due to some bike problems. At the entrance people offer her, what she thinks are sweets, but she finds out she is eating ear plugs!

I must have been to six or seven HUBBs so far and I was just a little disappointed with this one. No fault of anybody's but my own. I greatly appreciate all the effort that goes into the organisation and presentations, especially the uproariously funny talk by Austin Vince (called me a 'parasite'). Friends I'd met at past meetings weren't there, Keith was stuck with his bike in the Persian Gulf, Ingo and Claudia were back in Zurich. I'm always happy to meet Bergit who works so hard on the clothing stand and is never without a smile. I enjoyed the comfort of a guest house in Castle Donington but it did mean I couldn't drink too much before riding back. At only £35 a night with a gut busting breakfast, it was comfortable and far far better than struggling to sleep in a bloody tent with planes flying overhead and failing yet again. However this did mean I missed out on the evening atmosphere. The Chequered Flag micropub in the village almost made up for this. No I may well give it a break next year before returning refreshed. A big big thanks though to everybody concerned.

Hello, Just home from Donington, when we left on Sunday we rode over to Bala Lake & camped, great ride home today :thumbup1:

Thanks to everyone who organised such a tremendous Hubb meeting at Donington this weekend...

It was clear that a great deal of effort has been put once again into ensuring everything went so perfectly...& for also organising probably the best sunny weather we've seen so far this year!
