New to the HUBB UK this year are Front Runner and they have a secret recipe that makes up who they are.

FRONT RUNNER SECRET RECIPE:

*1* Take a handful of friends who are engineers, designers, outdoor enthusiasts and professional off-road drivers;

*2* Add a shared history of adventures into the wilds of Africa spanning 40 years;

*3* Toss them into a factory in South Africa with the very latest technology and materials, together with CAD (Computer Aided Design), in-house laser cutting, CNC milling, bending, cutting, punching and powder coating;

*4* Let them simmer, dream, design, build, test, sell, travel, and evolve for 13 years, as they grow to become the world's premiere vehicle outfitting company with offices in South Africa, Australia, Europe and the United States.

The most advanced, versatile and widest range of vehicle based adventure travel accessories available on the planet are best served at sunset. In nature. Where the air is fresh and the views are breathtaking. Now in the UK with a network of approved dealers, fitting centres and overland advice and consultation. Come and see us at HUBB UK, see our demo vehicle and speak with our customers too!

Maybe a stupid question.
How and where can I charge my cellphone or netbook at the HUBB?

:helpsmilie:
Ok I can charge onboard at my KTM but this will only work if the engine runs using my hmm "plug socket??".

Another idea: using a very long distance cable from home :innocent:
or a shorter one on the camp ground?
(have to buy one then)

Not a stupid question Tabbi. May I say, discretely. And do keep an eye on it while its charging. Overlanders are an amazingly honest lot but...

A couple of days ago KateandWill posted the brilliant news about the Dover to Donington ride with Grant and Susan. This is just a quick update on that.

The Dover to Donington ride is being organised by the July, Simon, Kate and Arun from Moto Adventure Nights, and Touratech De. That link is to the 'getting the word out' work they are doing. You’ll be joining a bunch of riders over from mainland Europe – various countries! :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1:

Meet at the docks in Dover at 10.30 on the 18th with departure being at 12. Please note. You will need to sign a liability disclaimer before you can join the ride so please allow plenty of time to get there and sign that before departure. The A1? It really is the longest road in the UK. Didn't know that! Fun coming up. :mchappy:

Presentation dilemma

I've been busy hopping around in the last year or two, so I offered up a choice of two presentations for this years HUBB UK, and as the time draws nearer with silence from the over worked organisers it looks like it is up to me to make a decision :-)

Maybe event goers can help by letting me know which presentation they prefer ?

The choices are (both is not an option) :-)

1) Pegless to Peru - (practical and informative presentation)
=====================================
The presentation will cover aspects of buying a bike in Chile, why we (my wife and I) chose Chile instead of other countries and the problems we encountered.

* Bike issues and the failure to enter Peru after a month in Bolivia, and then running out of money.
* All the usual fun of finding parts to fix a broken bike
* Fuel trouble in Bolivia
* How to explain why you are carrying a dead dog in the back of a broken down van on the Pan American.
* meeting (local) people (when the bike breaks down) and making friends.

Generally a "you can do it to" type presentation.

2) 2 Prats (a RTW adventure in 91 days)
=========================
More of a "boys own" get out and do it.

How we (myself and a friend, Mike) had to rush across the states to catch a ferry

* What happened when that was cancelled.
* How to cock up bike paper work so that you cannot ride in South Korea.
* Meeting the Hells Angels in Vladivostok, and being adopted (we sometimes thought kidnapped) by them.
* Doing the "banya" (and Vodka) in Chita
* Dealing with the heat in Kazakhstan (and major breakdown in the desert).
* Why I actually did the trip in 64 days and Mike in 93.

As you know young Samuel, (It is ok for me to call you Samuel, isn't it?), I used to ride a certain marque from Germany, as you did (and still do)

Remember Brooklyn Bridge in 2000? The skyline is sadly now very different.

http://www.thebrightstuff.com/picsFo..._Bridge_NY.jpg

In the intervening years I deserted the marque and went elsewhere, but now I have returned to the fold and am again a proud owner of a BMW (actually it's just a rebadged Aprilia...).

Seemingly, since the turn of the millennium, the marque from Germany has attracted a new crowd who sip lattes at Starbucks and wear special riding suits. So I thought, as HU welcomes all sorts of people, this group should be made more welcome than previously, where they just got instant coffee from a serving hatch in a dining room.

Just a thought :cool4:

I do like a strong filter coffee in the morning. What a cruel smell that would be drifting over the camp site when I'm drinking grass and inner tube tea.

BruceP - for me, option two sounds like a winner, although I'm sure both would be great!

As to the above, in the interest of competition and balance, perhaps Costa / Nero's might be represented also :innocent:

Ok, my X Challenge only cost a fraction of a new 12GS and my riding suit isn't lined with whale foreskin either, but seriously :innocent: ... As a BMW rider I can't been seen at the Golden Arches! What would my new friends think?! :funmeteryes:

I wouldn't eat at MDs, but for the coffee and the wifi they have become a haven across the world in recent years.

But as you admit, it is an Aprilia. I took great pride in pointing out the "made in Italy" under the tank as I dragged mine across Bolivia.

Forget the coffee I've just realised that HUBB UK is taking place during the World Cup!!!!

Serious question: will there be anywhere on site where world cup matches might be shown? A spare room with a TV would do. Or maybe at the bar?

This is of great import!!!
