Hi All, in case anyone is thinking, ‘they’ll all be gone’; I thought I ought to let you know that there are still a few double and twin bedrooms left in the hotel. So what’s the score?

If you’ve been to the HUBB UK before then you’ll know that the Hotel is more often used for weddings, and this means that the rooms are really nice. Have a look at the Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel website and you can see photos of them.

Last year we couldn't book enough rooms but this year, because we had so many disappointed people, we've booked the lot. That's given us the chance to negotiate a discounted room-only rate of £80 per room per night on the Friday and Saturday (weekend rates are normally £105 per night at this time of year) and £60 per room per night on other days. :thumbup1: The rooms are being allocated on a first-come first-served basis for minimum stays of three nights paid in advance. Maximum of two people per room.

Like I say, there are only a few left so...

What do you have to do to snag a room? If you'd like to book one of the rooms please phone Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel directly on 01332 862409. Quote "HUBB UK" as your reference. Have your plastic ready because you’ll need to settle up as you book. Phone during the daytime please.

This question may not be in the right thread but it is related to the UK meeting.
I will be arriving from Canada and riding in Europe this spring and would like to attend the meeting, I would like to give a presentation on riding in the NWT's and Yukon in Canada and even Alaska.
I contacted Iain a organizier of the event asking about how to bring my slides and he said to use full screen in power point. I am having problems figuring out how to use powerpoint. It seems to be a pain in the ***
So can I just bring the slides in the correct order on a memory stick and speak to the slides?

I am looking forward to meeting you all

Cal

Sam Manicom 25 Jan 2014 08:10

Hi Cal, your presentation sounds great!!! Iain is the man who deals with this side of things though. He'll pick up on this or you can email him to ask the question direct to him. I'm only popping up to say this because I think he's on the run for the next couple of days so you might not get an immediate answer. Looking forward to seeing you in June!!!

Hi Cal,

Apologies for the delayed response. I see that Grant has sent you a PM with other suggestions, so just go with those. If you need to check anything else, just drop me an email.

Iain, question Sir

Hi Iain, I am in the Merchant Navy and have booked and paid for Donnington park for the full weekend, I have been informed that I may have to go on another ship. If this is the case, I may not make the meet, I paid via PayPal, if I cannot be there is the money refundable.
Best regards
Jake.

Sam Manicom 19 Feb 2014 16:56

Hi Jake, gosh that's a shame. :frown: You'll be missed if you can't make it! You are hearing from me by the way because Iain is head into a project! We don't deal with this side of things so I'll ask Susan to PM you. Fingers crossed you can still get to the HUBB UK!!! I was sure I was supposed to be buying you a beer!

HU Refunds Policy

Hi Jake,

We do have a refund policy, apologies it's not as prominent as it might be! Here it is:
"HU Events Refund Policy

We know 'stuff happens', and you know we have financial commitments to venues and caterers!
If you're unable to attend an event, please let us know (by e-mail reply to your confirmation e-mail from us) so we don't worry that something has happened to you...
Up to 30 days prior to event start, we will refund all fees in full less a $10 (or €9 or £8) fee for handling and PayPal charges.
Up to 15 days prior to event start, we will refund camping/accommodation and food packages in full less a $10 (or €9 or £8) handling fee. We will apply your registration fee to any subsequent HU event in the year or following year. If you have purchased a t-shirt, let us know your mailing address and we'll send it out.
Within 15 days of the event start, there will be no refunds, but we will apply your registration fee to any subsequent HU event in the year or following year. If you have purchased a t-shirt, let us know your mailing address and we'll send it out."
What that all means for HUBB UK is that you have until 30 days prior to the event to get a refund (less £8 for Paypal and admin costs). After that, we'll happily put your reg fee to any HU event in 2014 or 2015 (Enniskillen or Haggs Bank, for example!) You just let us know when you're registering that you're carrying forward your HUBB UK fee.

Hope that helps, and fingers crossed that you're able to get to Donington!
Cheers,
Susan

Just a quick heads up! New stuff will be going up on the HUBB UK page tonight! :D

Soon there's going to be info posted about brand new books that are going to be launched at the HUBB UK. And ride out info too! Lovely area.

Over the next weeks you'll also be seeing posts about the different companies who are going to be exhibiting their overlanding kit with us. If you've not seen how amazing the list is yet, do take a look.

119 days to go:clap:
