Useless info

For any one travelling any distance and wanting to get their tent up before it goes dark, sunset is at 17-17 (quarter past 5pm in imperial for old timers). Twighlight ends at 17-50 (ten to 6pm) on the Friday. Twilight is assuming weather is good with no cloud cover!
Sunrise/Sunset and associated twilight times for PL14 5JA on Friday 4 February 2011 | Good Stuff

I think me and Diehard will be leaving Wirral early, Knowing my luck it will be pissing down and there will tail backs on both M6 and M5!!!!

Rossi I will let you know about booking table seats for Saturday night at the weekend after speaking to Diehard.

rossi 19 Jan 2011 06:54

No problem. I took the dog for a walk to the pub last night so I could ask about booking a large table but found out they are shut for maintenance work. They'll be open again after the weekend so I will have a chat with them next week.

Tents in the school field will be fine during the day. This is the sort of place where people go out and leave the house unlocked. For those in the hall, there is no problem leaving bags in there on Saturday, so long as sleeping bags and mats are packed away. If it looks like it is going to be a problem they can be left in my workshop once I wheel the bike out. No need to go laning fully loaded.

I haven't booked a space in the hall but was intending to use it. Am happy to camp if no space left tho.

Is there room for another 2 camping, looking forward to meeting people and having some fun. We will arrive on Friday Night. I am not sure if the other half will be trail riding depends on him getting tyres/bike sorted.

About 5 pints please as neither of us are big beer drinkers. I may be in the car as my bike and scooter plus my winter riding gear are not down in this part of the world as yet. I need to get them down from Lincolnshire where they are tucked up and warm at my sisters place.

Welcome. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Confirming..

Rossi you're doing a fine job. We hosted a meet a couple of years ago, and I know how much work is involved.

Just to confirm I'll definitely be coming along, and my girlfriend Char may or may not.

I hope to ride my 650 Honda XRL down and join the trail ride (on Mefo Super Explorers, in case anyone is wondering!).
But we did just buy an Africa Twin (for our next trip, only back 4 months and already booked in for the next one!) so may come two-up on that.

Will be there Friday night.
We'll stay in the hall if possible, but if not camping is fine.
A tenner's worth of ale would be great.
In for a pub meal Saturday night as well.

I'd be happy to do a presentation if there's a need, though I'm no expert.

If anyone needs tyres then please give me a shout, I can bring them down.

Looking forward to it, see you all there

I know I have already said this at the start but to confirm I will be there on Friday afternoon and camping, I look forward to seeing you all there.

Caf and me are on it jeigerLeaving Friday morningish, so should be down mid afternoon. We'll bring the tent and jump in the hall or camp.
I'm guessing Caf will be in the pub or road ride on the Saturday and i'll be well up or getting covered in shit down the lanes.
We'll bring the ipad/laptop with pix on and if i'm well lubricated i'll be able to talk rubbish for a short period!!!!

Cheers
Pete & Caf

off roading...??

Hello rossi, just wondering if the off-roady run will cater for the least appropriate of tyres, other half is going on his XL600 with intermediates on. Or do You have a set course in mind and advise on full offroad rubber...???

trail ride

I've been checking out my trail ride route today (a great hardship :biggrin3:) to make sure it was going to be OK. In the end I went out on my own as the local riders I asked were busy, a shame as Adam from along the road was going to take his XT round with siracs which would have been a good test of road biased tyres. I put a new gritty ED03 on the front which was a massive improvement over the near slick TCK80 it replaced. The 1/2 worn E09 was fine on the back.

All the lanes were pretty much as I remembered them, with nothing too washed out after the winter, which was good as I haven't ridden most of today's lanes for a while. Barring cars parked blocking the end of lanes they are all good for the outfit and there's nothing particularly difficult so everyone should get round. It took me around 3 hours to bimble round today, including a brief stop for lunch but with more riders it could take a fair bit longer. There's plenty of scope for extending the route if there is demand.

Included on the route is a village shop with picnic tables by a river. They will do tea, coffee, sandwiches etc, and we can through phone an order for freshly cooked pasties as we leave.

If you're planning to join the trail ride it might be worth getting some petrol either in Liskeard or Launceston, depending which route you take, on Friday evening as we're not going past a petrol station until near the end of the route.

I need to order the beer in the next couple of days. I'm up to over 100 pints on the list already so will put in for 4 kegs, possibly 5.

For anyone arriving on Friday afternoon, I will be home from work by 4 but Mark who lives 1/2 mile away is going to book Friday afternoon off work so will be around. bike parking for the weekend will be in the school car park but we won't be able to get in there until after the teachers have left. If you're there early park in the lane behind the village hall. I'll speak to the pub this week and see what they can do for us on the Saturday evening.

Riding a 650 DAKAR with TKC 80s though I'm fairly green to green laning...

Rossi, I plan to arrive on the Friday afternoon and will probably sleep in my tent unless the weather suggests otherwise. Please put me down for a meal at the pub on both the Friday and Saturday night and a couple of pints of Doom Bar each evening. I'd like to go on the less challenging of the two green lane rides on the Saturday (650 DAKAR with TKC 80s).

Many thanks...

Apologies... I seem to have misunderstood the pub meal thing... Looks like the plan is for it to be for the Saturday night only...
