Not a problem. I'm thinking about having 2 different green lane routes going, one more gentle than the other. Having said that, the lanes are easier to ride than the roads at the moment.

A bit nearer the time, it would help if I could get some idea of total numbers and how many are up for an easy or more challenging trail ride (and which bike you're riding).

I’m new to all this but would love to come to this meeting. I’m a Devon TRF rider and will be taking my xchallange on a trip towards Mongolia in the spring, so all tall stories and long tails will be treated as gospel. It would be great to ride some local lanes followed by a pint and stop over, also great to meet everyone.

As you say, the plan is trail rides on Saturday. Those from further afield (and anybody else who feels the need) can arrive Friday evening. Presentations, slide shows etc are planned for Saturday night but no reason why we couldn't have some on Friday as well. Beer, well I just need an idea of how many kegs to get in.

Should be OK on the routes and the hall. I don't suppose you have access to either a digital projector or screen? Last time I carried a projector on the back of the bike the vibrations blew the bulb. Fortunately I was carrying it for work so didn't have to pay for the bulb. I don't fancy borrowing one just in case.

Was out today and it was a bit of a mud-fest. The rear tyre (Mitas E09) was not too bad but the front (well worn TKC80) was a liability. If you are planning to join a trail ride I would recommend new TKC's as a minimum, but better to have something with a bit more knobble and wider gaps. E09s, MT21s or Army Specials should be OK. Locally the ultimate combo for grip is considered an enduro front tyre and MT43 trials rear. These wear out too quickly for me though as my bike also gets used for daily commuting.

question, i have a ktm adventure, will i need to change the tyres for the greenlaning you propose, easy or harder version?
i know you quoted lots of various tyres but you might as well have been speaking Mandarin!

that sounds like a great invitation, however I am working during the day on Friday and I'm planning on riding up directly for the beer and good company on Friday evening.
Tyre changes...well I usually just make do with what I've got on the bike, but if I'm giving Cole a backie he'd probably be happier if I put something a bit more knobbly on; though I do find that having a pillion passenger when you're green laning gives better traction on the rear wheel...especially if they're heavier than me:mchappy:

And somebody who can jump off and push, ideal! Walter, bring a spare set of clothes because anybody pushing is likely to get roosted. :rofl:

Swampy will be able to get tyres but I don't think he carries them in stock. I often go to Annears in St.Blazey or Thor near Bodmin, both will have tyres on the shelf. I doubt you're planning big miles on the CCM so go for an enduro front / MT43 rear.

Your bike is certainly capable of going on the lanes but tyres and rider can make a big difference. A bit difficult to answer, not knowing your current tyres, but have a look here. If your tyres look anything like E07 or E08 they will be a handicap. The E10 is a big bike tyre that looks similar to the TKC80. E09s are OK on the road and last well for an off-road tyre. Army specials are better on the dirt at the expense of some road ability, the taller knobbles make them squirm a bit, however even these would be considered a road biased tyre by the green lane crowd locally.

Walter, you'll only need one set of clothes, especially if you're getting a backie from Tiffany... Honestly...

All this tyre talk is making me feel a wee bit intimidated - even with my TKCs...

we'll be on near cut slicks so not to worry :scooter: no grip means more drinking time!
