The Plan

The plan is simple. Show up on Friday morning or afternoon, meet people and setup. Travel Presentations and Tech clinics are planned throughout the meeting, starting Friday night. More Detailed Schedule here.

We can always use some help! If you want to assist, please sign up to volunteer to assist on the day or here for advance work or to ask questions. Thanks!

  • Mike and Jo Hannan, Team Elephant
    Lots of folks keep a travel blog but most of them are boring even for close friends. By taking a little time and learning a few writing secrets, your blog can be nteresting to every reader. This is a "how to do it" presentation on writing a blog. The tech stuff is well taken care of these days, but if what you write is execrable not even your mother will really read it (she will probably say she does but that isn't the same).
    I managed to get my blog compressed into a book and published by New Holland (The Elephant's Tale due out 1 May this year). To get this to happen took a lot of work and I learned a lot about what works and what doesn't.

    You've seen their photos and they're amazing, so be sure to attend this workshop to learn how to make exciting photos that your friends will want to see!
• Technology. For examples, what websites etc to refer to during your preparation, how did you keep in touch, what IT did you use on the trip, do you store your photos on Flickr, Google/Gmail, Yahoo, etc. Access to the Internet, what sort of phones: Android, Windows, iPhone etc. This could be done be several people all pitching in. Anyone interested?

• How about YOU? We're all here to learn, and there's LOTS to learn! We want to do more presentations and clinics - but we need volunteers to give them! Any topic you can contribute having to do with motorcycle travel, maintenance, planning etc, lasting 20 minutes or more, would be great. Tell us about your trip, or area of expertise. Sign up here!

There will be slide shows and tech clinics on Friday and Saturday evenings, and all day Saturday. Come early and make it a great weekend! We recommend riding on Friday and Sunday, and participating in the clinics evenings and Saturday.

Charity Draw

2012 Charity Angel Flight, through the sale of raffle tickets and the generous donation of prizes from all the vendors on site and from afar. If you'd like to donate a prize for the charity raffle, send it direct to Shane.

Shane said: "I believe that Angel Flight represents the help-your-mates ethos that is so Australian as well as dealing with a real problem of our geography and population spread."

In 2011 you raised $448.85 for them with your raffle ticket purchases - an excellent effort!

The draw will be held at 5 pm on Saturday, and numbers will be matched to prizes. Prizes will be available to pick up from 5 pm Saturday until 10 am Sunday, so no need to be there to win! The raffle for any uncollected prizes will be redrawn at 10 am on the Sunday - so don't throw your tickets away.

The schedule is subject to change, so don't hold our feet to the fire - stuff happens! But we will try very hard to ensure that it goes off as planned. Check the latest schedule to be posted at the meeting on the day.

Meeting place for all events is at the grounds.

Pre-Register and save!

The admission price is on a sliding scale to encourage early registration and help us organize facilities better.

Admission pricing (for PAID pre-registration):

• Register and PAY before Jan 1, admission is only $35. Includes admission to all slide shows, Tech Clinics, Rideouts, and all other HU events. NOTE: Accommodation and meals are NOT included in the registration price, but dinners may be purchased below.
• Register and PAY after Jan 1 and before June 3, admission is only $45.
• At the door, IF space is available, admission is $55 for both days.
  • Friday ONLY $30 at the door.
  • Saturday ONLY $30 at the door.

Includes admission to all slide shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Tech Clinics and demonstrations.

There will be signs along the road as you approach the area to get to the exact spot. Watch for the HU logo!

• $10 Powered Site (2 adults) There are many powered sites available in a number of places throughout the grounds. Those wishing to use powered sites need to make sure they have appropriate length power leads. The powered sites between the pavilion and the arena will be put aside for vendors.
• $7 Non-Powered Site (2 adults)
• $3 each for additional campers per night
• Pay John the caretaker direct, we don't handle the camping fees at all. The caretaker's van is parked near the pavilion. Payment is strictly cash and correct money would be appreciated. There is no camping in the area.
• No rooms or cabins available onsite

Security:

There is a caretaker onsite. The local police are close nearby and will come through a few times across the weekend.
