3 weeks later and got a refund on the jets as they didn't have them as they'd told before and still no new tires! FRACK!

Last night I ordered again the mainjets from another source in the US..
will have to wait for them..

I did however order a new lightswitch/turn signal gizmo (12€shipped) that has a choke lever beneath it so I can properly use the raptor660 choke cable and not just pull it by hand BUT the connections are different.. so now I also gotta wait a few more days for the 9way micro-pin connector housing to arrive from the UK..

Now for the GOOD part!

I've fitted 145 mainjets on both carbs, needle clips on 2nd groove from top, #25 pilots and the bike pulls good, very rarely pops on decel but she still a bit rich and hesitates a bit at constant speed cruising...

Can affirmatively say it's rich because I lowered the needle clips to 3rd groove and it got worse..

Bought a new rear tube to fit on the tire as old one I believe is f-ed up..
Will go to a car shop and fitted today..

Ride safe!

2x 127.5

1.84£ with VAT
+7.32£ shipping....

not bad at all!
Hope to solve my jetting problems very very soon!

Plus, yesterday I went to a shop where they do some pretty good fiberglass jobs to get the fuel tank black side shrouds fixed..(came with the fuel tank when I bought it but came a tad broken...

Tomorrow hope to be able to go to a Painter and have the rest of my frame parts nicely painted black!

Cool :D

The jets cost 26,18 GBP shipped (29.37€)

Guess I'll have spare jets if I ever want to tune the engine.. cam, springs and valves, Wiseco 11.5 : 1 96mm piston, Wiseco or GYTR or anyother aftermarket stronger and lightweight clutch basket, plate and springs.. (someday hopefully I'll either get a new used XT600E or just the engine or even if I ever need to repair my own engine due to major failure)

At least the left fuel tank side fairing can be totally repaired but the right side one is going to be more difficult as it's missing the front bottom corner right up to the screw hole mounting(the mounting thankfully wasn't broken)

As for the rest of the paint job... we'll see....

=)

How about a lighter flywheel? I guess you would gain more than a lighter clutch? Havent even seen lightened clutches, but sounds fancy.

A dude here in Denmark took of 500gram from his xt flywheel. He said he didnt get any big gains, but I guess all small things add up.

Kedo has a 98mm 10:1 wiseco, which they say dont need a new sleeve, jsut bore and hone the factory fitted one. Im FAR from an expert, but that seems like it would give the best bang for the buck. You would end up at around 630ccm :scooter:

bacardi23 5 Apr 2011 19:19

Yer.. Although the XT engine isn't a race engine I bet all those little changes add up!

I got the broken crankcase off last night and toke it to the only machine shop to have it welded...

The guy is gonna weld it tomorrow as he was finishing some other works..
My front brake pads just arrived and I'm gonna fit them right now...

The bike is soooo close to being ready!

The mainjets should arrive this week...
Will be getting the other parts painted hopefully this week AND
Just need to wait for the crankcase cover gasket to arrive and buy a couple of Liters of oil to fill the engine again :\

Mainjets have finally arrived! hehe

My crankcase cover was said should be ready today so tomorrow morning I'll go get it but still have to wait for the gasket which I doubt will arrive before Monday morning.

Might just fit the case without the gasket so nothing rusts inside before I come back from the Mainland next month..

So so so almost ready!

Well, Updating this thing...

Recently my engine had both crankcase covers broken.
The LHS is already fixed.
The RHS has a small hole which I'll be fixing today and should be ready tomorrow.

JB Weld 2-compound epoxy glue is awesome!
Every biker should have one of these and the waterweld version as well!

It might even work with those guys that like to actually weld the countershaft sprocket...lol

Anyway..

Only two new update is that I already bought the new tires for the bike:

CONTINENTAL / 90/90-21 54S TT TRAIL ATTACK
CONTINENTAL / 120/90R17 64S TRAIL ATTACK

shipped to mainland Portugal at a total cost of 122.69€
Still will need to ship it her to the Azores..25€ give or take..

That's as much as a Metzeller Tourance sold here in the island which is 120€ + shipping!

And the other one is, The bike starts and idles much easier and steady now with the 132.5 mainjets fitted.. will still need adjusting and maybe one size larger and 4th clip on the needles..

New RHS gasket arriving tomorrow night
will buy more engine oil as apparently alot more than 2 litters of oil were wasted when the crankcases broke..

Does anyone know how to properly filter under 200km brand new oil? i was able to salvage about 1.5litters into a clean container when I went to fix the broken RHS crankcase cover..

You gotta love german DPD shipping... they don't have an office here in Portugal so they got a partner Chronopost International..

I just called them up on Chronopost to see how I could get the tires delivered again to my brother as he wasn't home in the mainland as the german website I bought the tires from wanted 85 or 90€ to have them shipped to the Azores islands..

The lady that picked up the phone was great!
I asked about how I could get the tires delivered and after a little talking she told me they could ship me the tires to any other address that I wished, a friends or whatever.

Told her I was in the Azores and asked how much would it cost to have the tires shipped here. She told me they could and would send by airplane mail at NO EXTRA COST...will take around 5 working days to get them here..

Just made my day, saved quite some cash!
I'm a happy camper right now!

just wished I had the other bits of the bike already painted.. will have to wait for Tuesday or Wednesday..

I'ma do the same thing with the chainkit! ask them to ship with DPD and have chronopost reship it to me for free, oh yeahhhhh :D

updating....

Tires should be on their way tomorrow so hopefully they'll get here before friday or soon next week.

Today I've spent the whole day at the paintshop cleaning up all the remaining parts from rust and old paint so the painter actually paints the parts!!!

So tomorrow late afternoon I should have my parts painted and cured!

I'm almost ridinggggggggggggg :scooter::scooter::scooter::scooter::scooter::scoo ter::scooter:

Oh, and should've said on the previous post.....That DPD thing with Chronopost saved me about 60~65€ plus the 30€ price raise of the tires..
All seems gooooood :D

Well, went to get the parts..

They were painted alright... but looked like crap!
Told him to fix it and tomorrow afternoon I'll get them!

He said that a nice coat of varnish would do the job...

If not, I'll keep the parts and won't pay him!
I cleaned the parts, the primer and paint were mine he only applied the primer, MAYBE sanded a bit and then painted..

Today the M6 10.2grade countersunk bolts for the front disc brake rotor arrived..

Did you end up getting or making a frame support bracket for where you removed the silencer? im guessing if yur not going to load it up with stuff it wont matter to much.
