Xt600e 4pt aftermarket exhaust

Hello,

As there is a little money left in the bank at the end of this summer I'm finally getting to change the exhaust on my bike. The original is just rusting to bits at this stage. But that's not uncommon from what I heard.
I know there is not that much choice in which exhaust to chose. But which would be your preference? Arrow or lazer? Or is it all a bit the same. I just don't have The knowledge.
And what about the exhaust pipe? Order a new one from Yamaha or are there aftermarket choices for that as we'll?
It may sound like very novice questions and your right. They are :D

I go for Yoshimura or Akropovic, i have something like this: Facherkrummer Krümmer fur Yamaha XT600 / XT600K / XT600E / XT600XTE 3TB '89-'03 | eBay

Between Yoshimura and Akrapovic, Akra gets my vote. It has a nice deep tone.

Am I wrong to think that there isn't a acro exchaust that fits my type of xt? It's the '00 model(single exchaust) or can you fit another one with some fiddling?

There is an old thread here that may be of interest:

Don't be tempted by the 'Dominator' advertised on eBay, I had a really bad experience with them and now have a bill for 180€ for return postage! (My experience near the end of the above thread)

Awsome.
After reading different sources. I think The lazer produro will be the one to go for. Lighter than the original. Not to noisy. Easly found (important to me), good looking (not the Dakar style one).
Or am I wrong? :) :)

I've had a Laser Produro on my 2kf for some years now. I have to say its very well made, nice neat welding, good quality stainless, it still looks good after all this time. Plus its about half the weight of the original. Its a bit too loud for me now, I didnt used to care but now I do. I have a standard exhaust which I would put on for MOT time. This year the standard exhaust has succumbed to the rust monster, and has gone to met its maker. So I bought a db killer off ebay, I just found one the right diameter, and took a guess at getting the right angle for the nozzle on the end. Luckily it was a perfect fit, I just had to drill a 6mm hole to attach the retaining bolt. Its made a big difference to the sound, still sounds good but not as loud as before, it passed its MOT this week without a mention. The bike definately runs better with it in , feels stronger off the bottom of the revs, and a big improvement in the mid range too. All in all I'm very happy with it now.

Got a link for the db-killer ya' bought? :)

Timus 21 Sep 2014 18:52

Sorry, cant work out how to make a link work.

On the behalf of my neighbours, I thank you very much :D

Mine is a bit over the egde now, its sounds like something its not...Why have the sound of a MX bike, when im driving a 40hp bigbore moped :scooter:

I'll just pop a wheelie if I want attention...:innocent:

I'll be happy to make a before/after video, if it makes you sleep at night :D

EDIT: 3:30 into this old clip, thats with Db-killer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-iE...1iKw&index=136

Sounds decent enough for me.

I've got a Leo Vince X3 can on mine.......road legal, not loud, but a nice deep sound.

Had to think about that one for a while....:confused1:

Thats no xt600 for sure, no bottom end, but loves to rip. Thats actually a bike, property of Danish Rally-Dakar rider Jes Munk. So I felt honoured to get to ride his toy bike around a bit.

On topic again, I just got my DBkiller, and will try to compare the sound during the next week or so.

Jens Eskildsen 29 Sep 2014 15:16

Oeh shoot, the Dbkiller doesnt fit, the pipe is too big, and the part that fits in the rear end of the exhaust is too big aswell :(
