Xt600e 4pt aftermarket exhaust
Hello,
As there is a little money left in the bank at the end of this summer I'm finally getting to change the exhaust on my bike. The original is just rusting to bits at this stage. But that's not uncommon from what I heard. I know there is not that much choice in which exhaust to chose. But which would be your preference? Arrow or lazer? Or is it all a bit the same. I just don't have The knowledge. And what about the exhaust pipe? Order a new one from Yamaha or are there aftermarket choices for that as we'll? It may sound like very novice questions and your right. They are :D |

Between Yoshimura and Akrapovic, Akra gets my vote. It has a nice deep tone.

Am I wrong to think that there isn't a acro exchaust that fits my type of xt? It's the '00 model(single exchaust) or can you fit another one with some fiddling?
|
There is an old thread here that may be of interest:
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...exhausts-35998 Don't be tempted by the 'Dominator' advertised on eBay, I had a really bad experience with them and now have a bill for 180€ for return postage! (My experience near the end of the above thread) |
I have a Quill end can on my tt600 re.. I bought it second hand

After reading different sources. I think The lazer produro will be the one to go for. Lighter than the original. Not to noisy. Easly found (important to me), good looking (not the Dakar style one). Or am I wrong? :) :) |
I've had a Laser Produro on my 2kf for some years now. I have to say its very well made, nice neat welding, good quality stainless, it still looks good after all this time. Plus its about half the weight of the original. Its a bit too loud for me now, I didnt used to care but now I do. I have a standard exhaust which I would put on for MOT time. This year the standard exhaust has succumbed to the rust monster, and has gone to met its maker. So I bought a db killer off ebay, I just found one the right diameter, and took a guess at getting the right angle for the nozzle on the end. Luckily it was a perfect fit, I just had to drill a 6mm hole to attach the retaining bolt. Its made a big difference to the sound, still sounds good but not as loud as before, it passed its MOT this week without a mention. The bike definately runs better with it in , feels stronger off the bottom of the revs, and a big improvement in the mid range too. All in all I'm very happy with it now.

Got a link for the db-killer ya' bought? :)

UK ebay item no 151371055876.
Sorry, cant work out how to make a link work. |
On the behalf of my neighbours, I thank you very much :D

Mine is a bit over the egde now, its sounds like something its not...Why have the sound of a MX bike, when im driving a 40hp bigbore moped :scooter:
I'll just pop a wheelie if I want attention...:innocent: I'll be happy to make a before/after video, if it makes you sleep at night :D EDIT: 3:30 into this old clip, thats with Db-killer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-iE...1iKw&index=136 Sounds decent enough for me. |
I've got a Leo Vince X3 can on mine.......road legal, not loud, but a nice deep sound.

Had to think about that one for a while....:confused1: Thats no xt600 for sure, no bottom end, but loves to rip. Thats actually a bike, property of Danish Rally-Dakar rider Jes Munk. So I felt honoured to get to ride his toy bike around a bit. On topic again, I just got my DBkiller, and will try to compare the sound during the next week or so. |
Oeh shoot, the Dbkiller doesnt fit, the pipe is too big, and the part that fits in the rear end of the exhaust is too big aswell :(
|
Bought the one Timus recommended.
I guees I can make it with with some cutting and grinding ect, but I was really exited about a bolt-on solution, that looked nice aswell. :( Will see how the seller responds. Timus, if you got any input, pleace share :) |
Thats a bit if a bugger. I can only assume you Produro has a different sized outlet to mine. Did you actually measure it before you ordered it?
I simply got a metal rule and stuck it across the inside diameter of the outlet. Then went to ebay and put in "DB killer 47mm". Out of those that came up I selected the one that I thought would fit the offset nozzle. It was a bit of a guess, but worked out ok for me. When it came it went straight in, a couple of taps with a rubber mallet to get it right in. Dont think it really needed a bolt, it was a pretty tight fit after I haemmered it in, but it came with one, so I used it anyway. |
The outlet was just at 47mm, i used a rotating sandpaper drillbit-thingy (dont know the word for it) on the exhaust aswell, to try and make room. I still had to use anglegrinder to modify (cut and trim) the Dbkiller heavily, it aint coming out anytime soon, thats for sure.
It didnt choke the sound too much, will try to record something, and put it up here. |
Thx.... :D
Video of me riding like a jerk, trying to make a soundclip with the DBkiller. The sound is a bit distorted, but thats just gonna have to do. Hope that settles some questions... EDIT: Direct link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXGd...mnsGl6Ynqb1iKw |

Well i didnt get the update from youtube ;) Its hard to tell, i compared to the thuhej part 3 and its hard to tell the difference. Then again its rubbish sound on all the cams, if you had record beside bike pulling throttle with or without maybe we can hear difference.

So the big question how many HP did you drop down with DB killer, i know bikes with about 180hp drops down 12hp in dynotest. So fitting new exhaust, kn filter, new jets and maybe spend 100euros on dynojet kit. Then you buy DB killer for 50euros and are back to basic dropping all the HP you gained...I recomend others just using stock pipes if you dont want the bike loud with max HP, dont start messing and waste all cash if you cant do it all the way!
|
I dont think its a big question, its been over a year. Hope you dont loose any sleep over this....
If you jet the bike for an exhasut with db killer, and then remove it, then you loose some power, and will have to start over because of the different flow. Vice versa... If I wanted more power, I would have bought a different bike. I just like to make the bike "mine" I have about 110.000km on the bike myself, and have traveled in 14 countries, so in my book I did just fine. http://www.tenere.dk/forumnew/uploads/987/hooligan.jpg I live downtown, and even with db killer in drag it out in front of the street before I start, when leaving at 0530. |
Well there is alot of people out there having questions about aftermarket exhaust and maybe gaining some more HP on the XT. And i havent seen the dynotest of the DB killer before now, maybe someone would like to know..There is people that travel around the world on a Vespa moped, it works:scooter:
