I'm just reading Helen's book Desert Snow now. It is beautifully written and I'm enjoying it hugely. Helen we met briefly at HUBB.
Pat and I (Horizons Unlimited Motorcycle Travellers' Stories - Sheonagh Ravensdale and Pat Thomson) spent 6 months riding Honda Falcons in South America in 2006, then 16 months riding same bikes from Panama to Cambodia 2009-11 and are off in a couple of weeks to roam round Europe for a month or so, taking in the WIMA Rally in Switzerland.
For any woman traveller, WIMA has around 20 divisions all round the world, so a great resource and support network: see Wimaworld.com - main. Tiffany is also a member of WIMA.

So far, I've only done the Alaska Highway (essentially, from Anchorage to southern British Columbia) twice, traveling with my husband. I rode my F 650GS and he was on his DR650. Had a blast, even through the road construction sections - my gravel skills aren't great and the gravelly road construction bits still scare me.

I'm eagerly planning my first major solo ride for next summer - I'm shipping my bike to Europe for a few months and will be spending a fair amount of time in eastern Europe. Not terribly adventurous, compared to so many stories here on the HUBB, but it's pretty adventurous for me :)

I call myself MissRIDER and my adventures love to take me extreme distances solo riding. During the summer of 2012, I rode 15,000miles/24,000kilometers from Boston Massachusetts down to the Panama Canal and back to Boston. Summer of 2011, Los Angeles to Boston, solo ride. Summer of 2013, Boston to Newfoundland Canada to New Orleans, to Florida Keys then back to Boston Massachusetts, solo riding.

I would love to find a riding partner for the South America and Russia portion of my tour. I am fluent in Spanish. I will be riding a BMW700GS for the world tour starting in 2017. I will start in the Boston area and head south through Central America.

Hi everyone,

I have done a small 3 week off road trip with my husband to Morocco in 2011. We both were on a Suzuki DRZ which is a slim but high bike. We packed super light but had everything with us that we wanted (even camping gear).
In 2012 we went with the yellow ducklings (Suzuki DRZ) to the North Cape and then back through Russia, Estoni, Latvia, Ukraine an Roemania. We did a huge bit off road with some paved bits in the middle. This was a 2 month trip.
Again in 2012 we went for a 3 week trip to Thailand and went 2up on a small Honda PCX scooter 200cc). We had a blast and drove around the whole country (ok, I had to jump off the bike on a very steep hill because it was going backwards instead of forwards, but it was great!)
In 2013 we went on a 4 month trip to Mongolia and all the stan countries also with the two ducklings and also most of the while off road. It was hard, but so cool!
Next year we will start our RTW trip but this time we are going 2up on a Suzuki Vstrom. I have had enough of driving on my own for now, but hey who knows what will happen.... :D

A few summers ago my partner, Adam, and I rode from Toronto to Moab, Utah.

We left 2 weeks ago on our Trans-Continental Mambo tour which will take us down to Ushuaia and hopefully up the east coast of Africa. We are riding our own bikes, DR650s. So far we have been plagued with engine issues (on my bike) and are housed up in Texas, but will hopefully be back on our way soon!

sooo great to hear all of your stories! I´m currently riding solo in South America - Peru/Bolivia/Argentina, am currently stuck in Tierra del Fuego near Ushuaia:) hoping to head back north soon, aiming to do Peru again and then Ecuador/Colombia/Venezuela.

I´ve been zigzagging in SA since July now and I haven´t met any other solo female riders:(:( anyone out there?:)

Europe Tour 2017
 

Hi MissRider, 2017 is quite a bit in the future. Even so we (my wife Manuela and me ) want to offer a place to stay in our not so cheap country. Would love to show you a lovely part of Germany around Heidelberg. Not Heidelberg itself, too much tourists there.
We plan a ride Canada West-Alaska-Canada East in 2015 with our Oldies, a 82 Harley and a 73 Triumph Bonneville.

Hopefully later this year I'll be able to add my own. In June I'm departing from the West of Ireland and riding solo across Europe, The Stans, Mongolia to Magadan (and then to Vlad) on my Yamaha TTR250. Can't wait!!! :w00t:

I'm also back on the road at the end of this month... first stop Canberra, then Bright for the Adventure Travel Film Festival and then west for a lap around Oz... solo on a 110cc Postie Bike.

Anaire, where are you from. Dingle? We're based in Clare! That's a fantastic and very courageous solo ride you have planned. We'd love to come and see you off. All the very best of luck.

I'm a girl, loosely speaking. I'm 51 this year. :biggrin: I've been riding big bikes for over 20 years and have the curious distinction of having introduced my OH to biking - rather than the other way round. He, on the other hand, became an instant fanatic and persuaded me to travel on two wheels. We've clocked up tens of thousands of miles, criss-crossing the States, and did a 6,500-mile round trip charity ride from Moscow (a tiny village in Scotland) to Moscow (a slightly better known city in Russia) and back.

Next year, we are planning a charity ride from Ireland to China ... and onward, RTW, in support of teenage mental health charities. Riding in China is likely to be a challenge for all sorts of reasons, but we are fortunate to have local Chinese contacts to help with the bureaucracy. In the meantime, we are repeating the BMW Off Road Skills and Maintenance courses we did in 2009 - which, coincidentally, dovetail quite nicely with the HU Event at Donnington. If any of you are there on the Friday or Saturday, keep an eye out for us. (We'll be easy to spot, unfortunately. We'll be coming by car! :blush:)

My current bike is a BMW R1150GS. We're aiming to get a couple of G650GS Sertaos for the China trip.

Fair play to you, that's some great travels you have planned! I'd love to go to China, it's so tempting... just next door to Vladivostok... Ah, to have the money! :)

I'm originally from Poland but I've been living in Dublin (and Wicklow) for the past 7 years. I just figured since I'm going that far East, it would be nice to start as far West as I can, hence Dingle. I'd love to have a little farewell ride out so do pop down if you're around! I want to do the BMW course as well, although probably an earlier one, but I'm aiming to be at the HU event so I might see you there :)
