[QUOTE=Tim Cullis;593285]I laugh when I see riders standing on the pegs on a piste that's as smooth as a billiard table.
So did I, then I spent a couple of days on a BMW 310 in Morocco and I realised the reason all the marketing pics show a rider standing is because the "seat" is designed for the line of the bike, not the shape of the arse! I also discovered that the pics show riders "backing it in" to corners 'cause that's the only way to turn the things on gravel at anything other than walking pace! |
I agree with Tim on the standing up on the Pegs .
Living in the Yorkshire Dales we now see many riders on what are now called " Adventure Bikes " ... who ride on the main road through the village while standing up on their pegs . You only need to go back a hand full of years and you never saw that . is it because the seats so bad on these bikes that its impossible to remain seated between the biker cafe stops ? Or is it because its showing off ? or they have seen videos or adverts showing riders stood up ? I have no idea why some do it. I can say it does look rather silly on a main road. ?c? |
Looks like another The Long Way series is coming

I ride a KTM Freeride in long distance trials. You couldn’t do more than 20 miles sat down on that. I know i look a plonker on the tar road, but every 20 mins or so i ride for 5 mins standing to give my backside a break! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Where did that story come from? Is it a credible source? |
