Discussion?

Is that what this is?
Lets just say I am adding about as much as your first post deserved.

In fact, given the profound and astute opinions you shared with us in that initial post, I'd say you were the boring one...

It seems that your recent burst of creativity, which started with a desperate cry for "interesting" topics in the HU Bar, climaxed with this: a thread that says, well, not a lot really....

Can't have fun unless you're winding people up, eh?

tommysmithfromleeds 28 Sep 2008 17:25

again "dont poke the bear" comes to mind but...

I am 20, I live in Britain, I am not bored and would not consider myself as boring. Sharia law has not coming into play as of yet and even if it does it will only be in certain muslim areas, in fact there are parts of my home county that resemble a Baghdad market rather than a gloomy mining town, this is certainly not boring!

It is a really interesting discussion to be had, I have it with my friends every day. The ruling though being centuries of colonisation and empire building has left Britain's people fending for themselves. Parts of this place luck like a post apocalyptic town and that a real shame.

Still you can't take it out of me, I am proud to be a Brit, but would like this topic to point out the problems rather that criticise the people.

Still boring

It,s this kind of boring answer that,ll kill the thing alright.
Let,s stick to why in boring Britain the pubs close to early, there,s a speed camera on every block, you can,t smoke anywhere and they,ll still tax you to death anyway for even thinking about doing anything you might enjoy.
Oh yeah less holidays and more work hours than anywhere else other than the states, hideously expensive petrol and still no-one seems to mind.

pottsy 28 Sep 2008 17:50

Ah well, at least you're only Brit-bashing us verbally (from a safe distance...) and not physically (not yet, anyway!).:innocent: Will this Sceptered Isle be enjoying your presence anytime soon?

Medellin

Actually I,ve just opened a new business in Colombia,Medellin to be exact. It,s also known as the city of eternal springtime.
It,s got loads of windey roads, good restaurants and a ton of hot chicks.
So I,ll let you guess at my return date!!!
Just to add on! my home country of Scotland may be even dumber! as after watching Braveheart they wasted a shitload of money on a parliment that charges them more and still pay for the other bunch in Westminster.
The new parliment after a year and a half cannot get the Cental heating in my 79 and 89 year old parents house fixed, leaving them to freeze.
I thought I was in the third world.

If you have the means open a business in another country you would think you could also look after your elderly parents.

Oh yeah I forgot that's the governments job isn't it, I agree with you, let em freeze.

I already did mate, but they feel that having payed taxes their whole lives and fighting in wars etc actually means they might be entitled to some decent treatment in their old age!!!
How many years of Labour are we at now.

Exellent idea

I also love the idea that because I have a business in a foreign country that I must have plenty of cash, maybe I should have moved to Spain.

Both you and the government have left them freeze

It would seem both you and the government have left them freeze Al.

Boring I/we may be. But at least compassionate.

Mind the trolls .......

Well, I'm sorry if a political topic for "debate" like this...

Put simply, comments like your first post just look like a troll or a chip on the shoulder, rather than trying to promote a discussion of reasoned arguements, if that is indeed what you hoped to do.

If all that still labels me as "boring", so be it... but don't now be surprised if you're not taken seriously...

stuxtttr 28 Sep 2008 19:39

What a load of old tosh dear boy !

Maybe some sharia law could sort the old place out but lets be fair if you can name a country without dodgy politics then you must be a politician.

Nowhere is perfect and you aint seen the last of us yet the revolution is near my friend.

and if all else fails Ive still got my bike (even if theres hardly anywhere to ride over here !)

sorry forgot this is a response to the crack smoking original, but then it would be a shame to stereotype a nation.
