[Post Covid] Morocco Ferries
So, my return ticket in May from Barcelona to Tanger Med with a private cabin and motorcycle was €220 return. This was with GNV.
Honestly, it was very good value and the short distance to Barcelona from Bilbao meant I only needed one night’s accommodation on the transit. Oh, and saved my new tyres. I would take the same option again. |
Rachel.....do Gnv provide straps to secure the bike or do u have to bring ur own?
|
Straps provided. And they wanted to do it themselves. Definitely wouldn’t let us do it.
To be honest, they did a good job |
Thank you Rachel

Today's ferry prices
Ferry prices from Carlos today, 18 August 2022:
Algeciras-Ceuta €225.00 Algeciras-TangerMed €250.00 Open return, Car plus 2Pax. Thinking of trying Ceuta again as it's a fast ferry and you enter Morocco on the corniche just a few km from the motorway/Tetouan/Rif. Anybody done Ceuta since the new border facilities opened? Any hassle? Insurance booth at the border? Happy trails, Peter |
Getting motorcycle insurance on a Sunday
Hello
Can anyone advise me if it is possible to get motorcycle insurance on a Sunday in Tangier Med? I will be arriving around mid-day on the 23rd of October which is a Sunday. Thanks |
Insurance place should be open. On a few occasions I’ve arrived on a Sunday evening and it’s been closed.

Hello!
On monday i travel with motorcycle from Genova to Marocco. I am vacinated twice, so i need PCR test. Here is my question. Do i need PCR when i bord on ferry in Genoa or when i cross border in Marocco? How to trevel in marocco if i dont have 3 vacinations? Do i need any covid documents for hotels, shops, bars...? |
They checked for three vaccinations when we crossed from Ceuta a couple of weeks ago. After that nobody was interested. Nobody asked anything about Covid in hotels or restaurants or anywhere

Quote:
“To enter Morocco, passengers are required to have had three vaccine doses (or have had their second vaccine dose within the previous four months) , OR proof of a negative PCR test result, with the sample having been taken within 72 hours before boarding.” https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-ad...y-requirements Assuming your jabbed to the eyeballs they happily accepted your proof of jabs. Had you not been jabbed up a -ve test would have been fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Ferry Update from this morning.
Arrived at Carlos at 11:10, by 12:20 I’m on the ferry, passport control is done and we are waiting to depart. It’s never been smoother. Tickets with FRS €200 open return |
Update from this morning at Melilla, we landed at 5.30 local time and didn’t get out of the port until 9am.
Pretty slow on both sides with just 1 office open on the Spanish side and staff milling about not doing a lot We did get a cabin upgrade for free as we had our original crossing changed to an overnight |
Clearing customs at Tanger Med was straight forward, less than 30min from disembarking.
Nobody checked any of the covid requirements although they did give out the passenger locator form. 1 couple on bikes were refused entry as the computer said one of them still had a bike in Morocco and they didn’t have a copy of the D16 form to show it had been taken out. We didn’t wait to find out what happened. |
Vehicle import for us was done at the 1st passport control booth by the chap checking our passports.
It was a little unnerving as he was dressed in a t shirt and jeans taking everyone’s passport from them, but we were all queued up with no where to go, so we figured he was getting ahead of the rush. Asked us the usual questions, where are you staying? ( Fes ) address? ( Fes hotel ) occupation? We gave ours and the ticket was ready by the time we went up the queue and got to the booth. Documents checked were passports and V5. No covid passes asked for. A quick check of the Landy and we were away to the next point where he checked the import vehicle card, then another final passport check and we were into Nador. The border guards seem more interested in the Spanish cars than anyone else |
A video trip from Malaga to Tangier Med
For anyone wanting to know about travelling from Algerciras to Tangier Med Noraly Schoenmaker, a 32-year-old Dutch traveller and adventurer, known as “Itchy Boots” has just done a great video riding from Malaga to Tangier Med. I did the same route last October and would of found it very useful actually seeing the ports customs etc and where to buy insurance and sim cards. https://youtu.be/pMvfS5mbsiI (hope it's okay to post the link ?)
