I don't recall Moroccan motorcycle insurance being that expensive last time I was there (about 3 years ago, pre-pandemic). I seem to recall that it cost me somewhere around USD $100 for a month of motorcycle insurance. That's more or less consistent with what a month of European green card insurance costs if purchased in the least expensive country, which is Bulgaria. I believe that there were different prices in Morocco for motos vs. automobiles. Perhaps someone who visits Morocco this spring could come back to this discussion and let us know what the current prices are. Michael |
I may be missing something, but at 10 dirham to the US dollar I believe you're agreeing on the cost. And for whatever it's worth, that's about what I paid ten years ago, too.

Insurance prices haven't changed in the last decade

Moved on…
For those that may wonder what we decided to do about visiting Morocco via our two motorcycles… We just didn’t have the luxury of waiting for a decision to be made (90-day Schengen limit and such), so we continued our travels through Corsica and Sardinia. We would love to return and visit Morocco but this will have to wait for us until late this year or early next year. Hopefully things return to some sense of normalcy over the next couple months. We’ll be watching the thread… Thanks to everyone who continues to provide first hand information and advice. Much appreciated!

ATM in Tanger med?
Quote:
Is there a Bank ATM in the Tanger med port? I only passed there once, quite fast and didn't notice. |
I'm Heading to Spain on Wednesday, planning on catching a ferry to Morocco late Saturday.
I had read that a pcr was required regardless of vaccine passport and within 48hrs, but read here that may not be the case. Can anyone confirm this? as it will save a route via malaga Airport to get one. I'll be buying a ferry ticket somewhere en route in Spain when I have a better idea of what time I'll make Algeciras. Crossing still seem plentiful at the moment. |
ATMs are at Tanger med next to the insurance booth.
Requirements for entry by ferry are either Vaccination Cert or negative PCR within 72hrs |

Not much point in buying a ferry ticket until you actually get to Algeciras. There is nothing to be gained by buying a ticket in advance, it's not peak season when ferries sell out. Michael |
Hello again,
I just booked my ferry from Séte to Nador for the 8th of May. I thought I drop these two points here to help other people. - As confirmed by others before, it is either vaccination or a pcr test. I found another source of confirmation for this on this moroccon tourism website. https://www.visitmorocco.com/en/trav...ely-to-morocco It states "Before boarding, passengers must present a valid vaccination pass or a negative PCR test less than 72 hours old. It should be noted that all vaccination passes issued by other countries are accepted provided they are valid in their country of issue." - second, the GNV Website provides a Fiche Sanitaire du Passager / Public Health Passenger Form - Coronavirus - which seems adjusted a little bit to suit the maritime travel. The one I have seen so far ask for a flight number. This document asks for the Name of Boat. Surely not a huge deal i believe. But I want to share the link here to help others: https://www.gnv.it/-/media/gnv/files/pdf/fsp-navire.pdf Happy and save travel to all ! |
Is the Nador border going to be open then? I thought they were still building it?
|
Nador is Morocco.
It is adjacent Spanish enclaves Melilla (and Ceuta) which are being upgraded. |
I know there are always a bunch of people selling SIM cards at the exit of Tanger Med port but never picked one up before.
Are they any good? Worth buying from them or keeping going elsewhere? |
Maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years but I find it's better to go to a telecom boutique and get the tech-savvy young bloke to install the card, call the magic number (often in Arabic) to set it up and crucially, tell you what your PIN and phone number is.
|
SIM card should be free. As Chris said go to a shop and get them to set it up, they may charge a little bit for this. (I paid 50dH for 10 activated SIM cards a few years ago).
Once activated you can use the networks app to add credit using your debit/credit card. |
