Dunno, Rev Zilla are pretty good about returns though. CALL THEM ... they will talk to you and may know if those gloves will bleed color or not. They are a very good company to deal with, IMO. (for mail order) You may find it a dollar or two cheaper somewhere else ... but you won't find better service.

BTW, it decades of riding and dozens of gloves used, many many bled color.
Silk glove liners may help? Some bled, some don't. Maybe half of my gloves have bled color onto my hands. I hate it too! :thumbdown:

Lee Parks Design deerskin gloves are my new favorites! They're like a second skin. The wrist strap is a little cheesy, but otherwise these are a high quality made-in-USA product.

Fit is key, and if you get the chance get them from Lee at an event, so you can try on multiple pairs to get a really "custom" fit - because they're natural deerskin every pair within a given size will stretch and fit just a little differently.

These look nice and for sure are really comfortable.
For me they just do not seem to be protective enough, but I could easily use them when driving my car or just wear them normally.

I saw similar gloves in Arizona bike week and they are just too "light".

Try RST TracTech !! i have damaged thumb joints and these are all day comfy , cost about £45 . They are vented around the fingers , lots of protection and best of all have pre curved fingers . They DO NOT leak their colours so you should be happy :funmeteryes: I am very fussy when it comes to gloves as i do big miles and need to protect what left working on my hands - these are the Mutts for the price unless you want to spend big cash imho :clap:

Yeah.. You don't have to spend big. I have a pair of RST summer gloves that I've done all my trips with over the last 7-8 years. They must have 100,000 miles of abuse on them and only now are they starting to fail..

I bought a set of Alpinestar gloves and in a few months holes appeared in them as the material came apart. You can see the gloves are new and already coming apart. They wouldn't give me a refund. Never again Alpinestar. And they were 50% more expensive than BMW gloves, which have lasted me 3 years and not lose colour.


I had a set of Five stunt gloves and they also leaked coloured onto my hand when wet. But a very good glove and lots of airflow and protection.

So far I been happiest with the BMW GSII gloves. They were replaced with the GSIII glove, which doesn't last as long. My 2 gloves outlasted the 3. The GSII glove finally gave up when very wet and I pulled it on and it ripped. I bought them in 2009 and they lasted daily use until 2012. That is good going. Now I use the other GsII glove with one GSIII glove:( . And this while riding a KTM :eek3: 2014 and still one 2009 BMW glove. I am not a fan out buying branded things, but BMW kit is usually very good quality. I have 2 sets of BMW pants and one jacket. It is expensive but very functional and good quality. You stay dry, never too hot and never cold.

And I still have my Five stunt gloves that lose colour when wet, and another set of Five gloves; the Five supermotard glove. I only recently bought these so cant say much about them and haven't had them soaked through yet. But it is a good comfortable glove so far.


I cant seem to find gloves not made in China, unlike other bike kit. So gloves still seem to be the worst quality bit of gear out there. It is the only made in China kit I have and the only item that doesn't last. I don't mind paying for something if it is quality. It lasts longer is more functional and ends up cheaper than being cheap stuff and replacing it often. And nothing worse than gloves than wear out while on a trip.

Yes, seems like all the gloves are made in China.
I would be more than happy to put a bit more money to a decent summer gloves (no gore-tex) which would not loose colour (no need for flashy design) but would offer good protection. I would prefer gloves which has seams outside (I have long fingers and hate seams which put pressure to my fingers).

I bought a pair of these Cortech gloves a couple of years ago:

I think they are holding up very well, with no issues. No leaking dye, no stitching issues, very comfortable in mild to hot temps. I've not tested them in a crash, but I think they would offer good protection.

I owned same or very similar Cortech gloves. They did well. Also have another similar type from Joe Rocket ... all made in China, but not bad.

Most gloves with a BMW logo can be made in China too ... or maybe eastern EU? (Checo, Croatia, Romania?) The difference is ... the BMW logo doubles the price. :thumbdown:

Not sure what brands are available in S. Africa. Are CorTech, Tourmaster, First Gear, Scorpion, Speed & Strength, Joe Rocket, Icon, Olympia sold there ??

Those brands sell full line of various gloves here in USA ... from crap to quite good. Most range in price from $35 usd to $80 usd. Pay more, get more.
I wait for sales ... where the $80 to $100 gloves drops to $40 to $50. That is my price range and I've had some great luck with a few pairs ... the Olympia's being my past favs ... but now ... none of those good ones are around. Wildly changing, fast moving world ... here today, gone tomorrow. :stormy:

Last year I've bought RS TAICHI RS391 mesh / leather gloves with carbon knuckle guard and precurved design, it feels like wearing second skin.
High quality materials and nicely designed as well.
And they were also dirt cheap!

Held Desert are very nice light summer gloves. Pleny of venting, hard knuckles protection+SuperFabric, kangaroo leather palm.
