2010 Travellers meeting?
What is the chances of having a Horizons Unlimited Meeting up in North Queensland next year in winter or dry season as they call it over there(2010)?
My wife and I plan to be up in that area in June/July/Aug, so if the event can become a reality during that time we would like to assist. We are currently down in VIC, and plan to spend the summer down south saving some money first. Johan |
Thats fine with me, i seem to always be going south and to go north for a change would be great, find a place, fix a date and start the ball rolling. Locky.
|
I'd be keen
|
i thought it was in queensland
grant mailed me a while back and said the queensland boys wanted it next year ,alternate it one year down here one year up there ,so locky you better email grant ,i am sure there is a great little town up behind caloundra ,maybe yarraman or i am sure you would know a great little set up like mitta that would be an awsome site ,get on the job ,we need a date and soon ,people like a plan so they can work there aussie trip around it
dave |
We are just looking into a location and dates at the moment. So stay posted!
|
I'm headed to the OCR in August on route to either Brisbane or Sydney (depending on cheapest shipping to the US) to do the Pan American
so be good if it was around then for me ;) |
Hey Maximondo, how is the plan for the meeting going, picked a place and a date yet. locky.
|
Hey Locky, we have a few places in mind, we haven't made a decision yet and as for a date - that seams to be pretty hard trying to work in around every motorbike event! Hopefully we will know more by the end of the month.
|
Date is set for ANZAC Day weekend 2010 (subject to Grants confirmation). We checked out a venue yesterday just out of Cooroy on the Cooroy - Noosa road and it looks like it has everything we need or close to it anyway!
Stay tuned!!!! Glen |
Well, when you guys said Queensland and going north I thought you meant north, living in Rocky I still get to ride south :? There is more to Qld than the south east corner you know ;)
Cheers TS |
Location & Time ?
School Holidays then, that area is very busy at that time of year,:nono: may have been a little wiser having it a month later, when the kids are back at school and there a far less holiday makers to contend with. But at the end of the day it makes little difference to me.
Yes I agree with you Richard re-location, I personally thought Airlie Bch, would have been nice:D Cheers Paul |
I'd say the further North the better.
I'm heading for WA (Perth) soon to take up a job over there and it would be nice to ride up to Cairns straight through the middle (Great Central Road) and maybe even go further to Cape York? Johan |

As for 2010, a few of us have already invested heavily in time and energy to try and put something together. So rather than making some negative remarks, what about telling us how you are going to pitch in and help. As soon as Grant answers our emails we will provide more details. |
bugger too early for me have a good one guys
|
Queenslander !
Firstly, I do not think my remarks were that negative:oops2: if you choose
to interpret them that way it is your prerogative. The second thing is I would only be to happy to put my hand up for 2011 however I would insist it being in the Whitsundays, great rides, great location, day trip to Hamo the list goes on.:DNow that is out of the way we should knuckle down to this Origin series we must put on a show bigger and better than Mitta Mitta (We can not let the bloody Victorians show us up !!!) And yes I will put my hand up if you need a hand:clap:all you have to do is let me know. As for Richards comment I am sure he did not mean anything by it, all the ? would of been was any where else even considered ? Well I can answer that for you, it would be a bit silly for it to be in say Airlie Bch or Townsville, Cairns any any othe destination, if the primary organisers live in the South East I even acknowledge that so Congrats for putting you hands up and we look forward to a great Meeting !!! Thanks Paul:thumbup1: |
Hey Saab don't get your knickers in a knot m8. :)
It was only an observation and like Paul, I have heard nothing about any of the processes involved, so my comment still stands, there is more to QLD than the south east. After attending the last meeting this year, no one at any stage mentioned the 2010 meet, so I assumed it was an exectutive decisoion made by Grant or someone else high up the chain. I would also think the 2011 will be down south, so maybe 2012, if I am not back overseas by then. But, Winton is a nice town :) Cheers TS |
So it will be in south-east Queensland? As soon as it is confirmed with Grant, please let us know the exact location. Does this means Grant will come down too?
When is ANZAC day next year? Foregive me, I'm new in Australia, dont know these things yet. My wife and I will be looking forward riding over from WA to attend and help out at the venue. Maybe we can arrange to meet other travellers at Alice Springs and ride across the Simpson desert or something like that occross together? |
Anzac Day
I think it is the 26th April.
Cheers Paul:smartass: |
And the meeting is ???
Hi everyone,
I have been following the thread and I am keen to find out where it will be held as I am a teacher and I'll have to take time off to go. Is it going to be in Cooroy? Just for future reference, one of my good friends has a rather large property just north of Cape tribulation in the far North. I have just spoken with him and he said if you every wanted have a HU meeting up there all you need to is ask. It would be a fantastic location, basically at the end of the creb track. Just a thought. I also like the Airlie beach idea, great location. :thumbup1: |
2010 HU Meeting - Cooroy QLD
2010 HU Meeting - Cooroy QLD
We have found a great locations in the great south east of QLD for the 2010 HU meeting, it located between Noosa and Cooroy on the the Cooroy-Noosa Road (No. 699 - look out for the HU signs along the road) on the 24th of April 2010 (ANZAC weekend - this will give the people from all around Australia an extra day up their sleave to get back to work!) There is onsite camping under gorgeous trees situated around a nice wee duck pond is available for $10pp per night other wise there are other alternative accommodations in Cooroy and Noosa. Just to re-cap: Address: 699 Cooroy-Noosa Road Date: 24th of April 2010 I hope to see you all there! If anyone wants to do a presentation please private message me. Danielle |

Hi Max, what facilities do we have at the venue, are there cabins or motel rooms that can be pre booked, or a caravan park that people can book into on site?. Is there a convenince store for supplies and licenced bar and food outlet where people can have meals. Have we the use of a hall for presentations. Nice and handy for me, just down the road. Locky. :mchappy:
|
No cabins, camping only. There may be other accomadation options close by if you dont want to camp. Showers & toilets on site. Shops and bottle shop 10 minutes up the road at Cooroy. Planning on having both a road ride and an off road road.
Catering will be available on the Saturday night and Sunday morning. Maybe Sunday night if enough interest, otherwise its BYO everything. (we are supposed to be hard core world travellers after all) :mchappy: Big Marquee for the presentations. We will be looking for trade displays and presenters. Stay tuned for more info as soon as Grant gets it up on the website. |

Might have to be a little patient with this one, "Maximondo" Danielle is in SA for Christmas. I have not heard any more news at this stage but as far as I am aware it is all systems go!
I have had enquiries from several travellers/presenters which I have passed on to Danielle. It should be a cracker, see you all there! Merry Christmas Glen |
Iam keen......
Not far from here.. keep us posted:thumbup1: |
We had another planning meeting this morning at the property.
More detail will be available very soon as will the registration page. Its shaping up as being a great meeting. We need more presenters, so if you would like to do a presentation, please let us know. |
Hi Saab
I cannot give a firm commitment, but I have been asked by Grant to maybe make a presentation if I turn up. I have no idea on what I would do it on though, but at this stage put me down for a travel talk thingy and if there is something you can think of that may be of use, I can do something else along those lines. I have no idea what has already been sorted of course, so just let me know. Cheers Richard |

Huge thanks to all that turned up to make it the success it was. We raised over $2000 for camp quality thanks to the very generous prizes donated by our sponsors. |
