Going Out Again - 'Round The World

After having completed my last global look I found myself remorseful that I had not taken longer and seen some places I missed. Fellow American global road warrior and personal friend Dave Barr said I was experiencing a psychological letdown. We talked about where I'd been, what was still out there, and how to get there.

At another friend's house, Bob Higdon, in Washington, DC, he caught me studying the globe one night, transfixed so intently I did not hear him take a photograph.

I have spent the last several months writing (fulfilling contractual obligations for some magazines), trying to finish a book, cataloguing 10,000 slides and photographs from my last tour and pondering what I would do when the snow started to fly in October of this year. I did a little fishing too, on the Big Horn River in Montana, where I live. And yet, wanderlust was eating away at me. It seems that after two motorcycle rides around the globe I still hunger for some more roads, trails and paths to eat with two wheels.

The cure for my disease of wanderlust is another quick ride around the globe. I am planning it now, working on some sponsors, laying out a route and generally happy to be preparing to move again.

This much I know: When the snowflakes are flying in Montana in November and December, I hope to be enjoying some sun and road fun in India and Nepal (two countries I have missed on my last tours). I will ride a minimum of 18,000 miles. This third ride around the world will be short, between 6-8 months. The big, easy miles will be across the USA and Europe....
